on thread locking/deletion

This is an archived legacy thread. Replies are closed, but the discussion is preserved.

As the creator of a recent locked thread, can I just say I have no problems with said thread being locked (life's too short to worry about such stuff, right?, and I can understand the reason).

But could I just point out its a bit annoying when a moderator posts a post to it asking a question just before locking it so that said question can't be answered?

If a thread is locked on the grounds that any comments on the topic will be banal and predictable isn't it a bit self-contradictory for the moderator himself to give in to temptation to make such comments just prior to locking it? :) Maybe in future just lock it and have done with it? (which is probably what will happen to this thread).

Cheers for that Old Monkey, you've gone and got that silly Slits song "Predictable" stuck in my head.

I agree that a question that goes unanswerable before one can reply is a annoying, but if it is pertinent info, an email to said person could suffice I suppose.

Unless their email is not on their profile, and then your left in a bind.
