With talk of a new album in the pipeline (Nov 2009 probably ;)), what direction / style would you like it to go in if you could telepathically let Barney know.

Personally I'd like to see a more experimental vibe, along the lines of 'Behind Closed Doors' with little or no production from so called reputable producers. But they'll probably be too goddam lazy to do it all by themselves.

I'd like to see them mix it up abit .. I really liked the guitar/rock heavy tunes like 'Rock the Shack' and then they bring out 'Here to stay' which is such a great track ... So a mix of the dance and guitar oriented tracks would do me fine ... As long as they do actually get into the studio and record something ...

As long as it's not reggae, rnb, garage, trance, rapping, hiphop, teenybop, classical, soul, speed garage, jazz, country & western, panpipes, bagpipes, opera......I couldn't give a fuck:evil4:

Let 'em do what they want, it's what they've always done anyway. BTW, "Behind Closed Doors" was produced by a 'reputable' producer in Arthur Baker. Md

...well, good question!

my thoughts are: they´re at their best when they try out new things (as they perfected on technique): acoustic things maybe (run wild is great, that´s what i think!) and timeless NO classic sound. what about a little dub influence... (that´s no joke!)? we´ll see!

Oh, CELTIC FOLK ROCK - definitely! Hooky can regrow his mullet, they can re-recruit Gillian to help choreograph the live performances and as for Barney - I'd like to see the fat little overfed twerp do the Riverdance anyday - fook me, that will be a sight to behold!! At least it'll help him stay trim!! Hee hee hee....

And......THE CORR SISTERS ON BACKING VOCALS!!!

:jump: :jump: :jump: :jump:

RUNRIG! YOUR TIME HAS COME....MAKE WAY FOR ... THE NEW ORDER OF NEW ORDER!!!!!

Well, who's up for it? Form an orderly queue behind me folks...... :D :D

I wouldn´t mind the Chem Bros producing the new album, if Here To Stay is the direction it would head, it´s absolutely fine with me...

Yep, I am also wondering who would produce it. I would not mind Moby but i guess that he is gonna be very busy w/his new album and the promo. Same thing w/ the Chemicals. If New Order really start working on it in September. Maybe it's gonna be Steve Osbourne again or Arthur Baker. But they should have some songs left from the "Get Ready" sessions, right? Ive read in Q (I think) that they've been recording 17 tracks then there should be 3 left that we've never heard of...

one thing i liked about joy division was their use of noise and atonality with the guitars and synths. it would be nice for new order to try a bit of that again

They should go for a more jangley effect a bit like the sound on the first electronic lp. But as long as they do anything I'll be happy. Perhaps they could do another world cup song this time have Nigel Martyn rapping on it or even Sven himself.

Full on Joy Division style! No, only joking. I wish. Whatever style their next album takes it should be good. I hope they make many more albums over the years.

a mixture of "Primitive Notion", "Behind Closed Doors" and "Vicious Streak" would do very well me thinks... :D
