Isn't it entirely pointless releasing a single off an album 18 months after that track was initially released?! ![]()
Am I the only one here who actually thinks that? (Especially given the number of threads in reference to 'Turn')? ![]()
Pointless indeed. And I don't want Turn to be the next single either. Just grown tired of the album and hardly ever listen to it these days which doesn't mean I don't like it. Oh well, nevermind :\ohwell:
Gary Numan released a single off the album Pure, 18 months after it came out, so you never know.
Hey Now.. is allright, but it sounds a bit too much like REM for my liking.
Don't see how there can be a "fifth and final" single without a fourth and it's probably a safe bet Turn won't be with us any time er... ever. So to talk about a fifth single is about as realistic as talking about a ninth or tenth single ![]()
As other folk have said, HNWYD is an ok track but definitely not single material. Horrible title as well, they should've stuck with "Road To Ruin" as it was originally called.
They should've released a Turn/Guilt double A-side single at the beginning of the year and have done with the whole thing. It would've been a good opportunity to get the US Guilt remixes out in the UK as they're mostly superb and the hybrid of rock/dance A-sides would've perfectly represented what New Order do best.
Ach well.
Sorry, but no. Like others have said Waiting For The Sirens Call (the album) has been and gone. Although i think with all the touring,a single is well over due.
By the way HNWYD? has been released as 'bonus' track on a promo single in the US (Jetstream) once, so I reckon no chance it will released as commercial single...

They did!
As part of the recent 12x12" set.
There was a 12" with the Original 12"/Hardfloor Mix which charted much better than all the other 12"es in that set.
One of the weaker tracks, IMHO. Not to mention one of the worst titles. But that is a subject for another thread.

Seconded
Why not release another single off Low Life? Its only been 21 years since the album came out.Face Up would make a great single.

Why stop at Low-Life? Age of Consent would be an awesome single.

Err... 4th was Guilt Is A Useless Emotion... 5th is Turn!
Well ok, Guilt is the 3rd single in the US, while Turn would be 4th in the UK.

Depends what is on the single.
But since usually it's for promoting an album, then you are absolutely right, it's pointless.
But if it means new stuff released that we don't have, why not. But I have doubts.. if it's Turn (edit) and the tribute mix of WFTSC... it's.. just... nothing new!

They almost did... it was called 1963/Let's Go :p
I still think I Told You So should have been a single. It's such a club-friendly song. It would fit in well with the latest top 40 crap, not to say that it's crap mind you.
Just my humble little opinion here, but I think they've released enough singles from that album.
But, nonetheless, I still think it's a wonderful song.![]()
I would want the song as a single, as a replacement for "Turn," which I was disappointed to find that it may not be released.

Seconded. Pisses on "Turn" every time.
The aborted Turn single (CD1/CD2/DVS), with the Guilt mixes along with any other mixes from WFTSC LP should be issued for the upcoming UK tour.
In lieu of that, a CD release of the recent 12 X 12" mixes.
