Yeah, I guess that's why it reached #15 in the UK but didn't even make the top 40 in the US.

Regret is probably the only really big NO hit in the US. Crystal did get a lot of airplay. I'd guess it is anywhere from 2nd to 5th in terms of NO hits in the US. I could be all wet on that, but I'd be willing to bet the house that it was a bigger hit in the US than HTS.

But my point was that Crystal was, again, more popular than HTS.

I never argued that point at all. Johnny had said that the only people that liked HTS were Americans, so I pointed out that it was much more successful in the UK than in the US, thus that statement must be false. Isaid nothing whatsoever about Crystal's popularity in the UK. Crystal did better in the US than HTS did, too which merely reinforces my point that Johnny's original statement about Americans preferring HTS as false.

whew. hope that was a joke. i don't think ANYONE will confuse new order (or the fucking chemical brothers) with "cutting edge music." and i think lots of people in britain like here to stay. it's a good song. crystal is better.

I have my "HTS days" and my "Crystal days", can't tell for sure which one is the best track. Crystal video is definetly the best one, although Barney looks very thin in HTS

Crystal is also a fantastic single.

I'm glad they wrote and released BOTH of them, I feel no need to compare the two.

Here to stay for me. I always thought it beckons the 80s heyday as its a perfect blend of sadness and bliss that makes NO unique. Its what i think is largely missing from their 21st century output.

That being said, Crystal and Here to Stay are both fantastic. If player in the league and Here to Stay would of made Get ready, it would of raise that album a couple notches in my book.

I honestly can't say which tune I prefer (Crystal vs HTS), but I did overkill Crystal a little bit, ever since the 3:10 demo version hit Audiogalaxy back in.. Well, before Get Ready or the single came out. There was one of 60 Miles An Hour too. 3:something too, shorter than the album version, but longer than Crystal.

Crystal is a fine song, just a little slow to get started(see album version), whereas HTS and other of their tunes that I rate the highest nail you over the head and don't let go. The live version of Crystal (511 DVD) kick ass, esp. Barney's guitar solo.

HTS, however, blew me away on the first listen, a perfect blend of New Order's 25+ years. The sampled choir, the crazy sequener riff and keyboards, the drums, then and Barney + Hooky. The winner.

Prefer Crystal as an song at home or in the car but prefer Here To Stay remixes in a club.

I prefer Here to Stay, although Crystal is another ace tune. But, I think I over played it when it came out. The vocals of both songs - the warm tone but the coldness of them - seemed to touch me as soon as I heard them. Crystal, though, has too much guitar fuzz - and doesn't translate well live. But HTS was never played live. I prefer the HTS video, although no one seems to know how to remix either of these songs well.

As I also love the Chemical Brothers,I was really looking forward to & excited by the thought of them & my favourite bands' coming together.....What a disappointment:\ohwell: It's a good tune but just didn't equal what I expected from the input of both of them,little bit lightweight.Agree with Jonathan tho',Get Ready with HTS & Sabotage(not PITL) included would definately make a very good album.Steve said that HTS just didn't fit tho'

P.S. Crystal is quality fucking N.O.Period.& that's swearing

There's an interview with Barney on the Chemical's Singles DVD where he explains, err, who did what.

From memory (all I've got since I lost the DVD) he says he put a load of guitar chords over the backing track they sent him which the Chems promptly took off.

He didn't give the impression they were ever in the styoodio together.

Here to Stay is one of the best songs that NO put out since Regret. It's how I know they still "have" it!!!!!
