Just doing this off the back of Nico's "WFTSC, best since Technique?" thread ... I know I personally think Electronic (the eponymous album) is by far the best New Order related product put out in this period and a few people I know think similarly. Actually, I think it's the best thing they've done since Low-Life, but that's an issue for another time.
How do other people thing Electronic stands up when faced with New Order's three studio albums, post 1989?
I listen to Music For Pleasure more than Electronic - it certainly sounds more like a New Order album, so shouldn't the poll include all the other side project albums or be a simple yes/no "is Electronic the best" poll?

Er, nope. I just wanted to garner Electronic's strength against the New Order offerings.
It's not a poll about side-projects. (We must've done that already somewhere, surely?).
Well there are odd tracks on Republic and Get Ready that I think are stronger than anything on Electronic but for consistancy Electronic gets the nod from me in this poll. I like all the tracks and never skip through any, and I an't say that about any NO album post Technique.
After Electronic though it was all down hill for me. Can't remember the last time I would have played RTP and TT.
I'd say the Electronic album is a consistently better record overall than the NO albums mentioned. Too many ordinary tracks feature on these three, though they can still pull the odd rabbit from the hat - Regret, Crystal and WFTSC which are classic NO songs in their own right and far superior to any of the Electronic tracks.
I can't vote in this,i don't compare it to N.O. albums but view it as a seperate entity.As an album,it probably is better,but it's missing Hooky,& that,to me,is an important,vital ingredient that would sway the argument for me.So,without Hooky,yes,otherwise,it would be Get Ready.But the best of any N.O. related product since for me personally would be MFP.By a long fuckin' mile.So apologies.

Many songs of it comes in my iPod lately, could Electronic be Bernard's best lyrics in a long time?
Seems it went downhill after that, though Republic has some interesting ones.
Don't know if Johnny Marr had anything to do with the lyrics in Electronic, but gee, it takes time to write a rap :p
I'd probably say that it would be either Electronic or Republic. I can't really decide on which one.
Comparing Electronic only and ignoring all the other side project stuff then I'd say it's 2nd place to WFTSC...
I was a bit confused by it's 'eclecticism' initially, but WFTSC has really grown on me over the months and now I think it's an excellent album.
Electronic loses out because it's much less diverse although it's a rather classy full bloodied pop affair.
Its better than Republic as an album,but its not New Order so...

The first Electronic album is way better than any of the New Order albums since Technique. However, personally I enjoy "The Other Two & You" more than any other album from this period.
There is something about Gillian's contribution to the band that I think is now sorely missing. It is difficult to put my figure on but since Gillian left some of the subtlety has gone from New Order's sound.
I find things like this hard to gauge as they all have their own merits. If you are talking breaking new ground I would go for Electronic, yes.
Nah, no contest. I'd much rather listen to a New Order record than any of the side projects. Whilst Electronic is certainly the strongest of their albums it doesn't come close to NOs post-89 output for me. FWIW, and I'm sure I've said this before, I really do believe that WFTSC is at least as good as Technique but then, I prefer Brotherhood over Technique so what do I know?.
I probably prefer Get The Message to anything New Order have done.
If you took PSB off Electronic, and let Hooky play a bit of bass on some of the numbers, you'd have something close to perfection.
Someone on here (Tim, maybe?) once made a point about the cheap, "thin" sound on 'Electronic'. It had never occurred to me before, but it's all I can think about when I listen to it now. So thanks, Jauncey, you've fucked that one for me!

Nearly agreed. Except that I wouldn't say it's better than anything NO have ever done. But it sure is the best thing Bernard's done since Low Life
the first electronic album is a masterpiece. yes it isn't new order, but it defo IMO is better than sirens or get ready.
I dunno about it being better than republic. both are really good synth albums and republic has the brilliant Regret.

My only concern though, some of the tracks sound dated, which I don't feel many New Order tracks sound dated...

WFTSC gets my vote. If I could be arsed pressing the vote button. Which I cant. Which is ironic seeing that its taking me about 100 keystrokes more to say I cant be arsed than pressing a vote button.
Electronic was a superb album of it's time and was critically acclaimed (I'm absolutely certain Q gave it 5 stars at the time). Parts of it now sound dated, but it contains the Holy Trinity of Get The Message, Feel Every Beat and Some Distant Memory so must go down as a classic.
As I've said more than once during various debates on NOOL, armed with this album and my Bernard Sumner centre parting ensured that I was exceptionally popular with the ladeez on my lad's holiday to Magaluff in the summer of '91... Bernard, Johnny, thank you! 
(Unfortunately I sport a Moby hairdo these days, which is not so popular :( )
