I have been a fan since 1986 and have seen then whenever i could.
I have been through the dark days of no new new order and don't fancy facing that again .
The dark days of no New Order? Do you actually have any kind of life at all? Can you not survive without four blokes from Manchester and the surrounding area stopping what they;ve done for a living.
And just how did you manage to survive the original "dark days of no New Order?"
Grow up Ronald. You sound like one of those teenage girls who tried suicide after Take That split up the first time round.
new order are the soundtrack to my life. i'm sorry you don't feel that way.
i don't feel passionate about many things, but this i do.
it is you who needs to grow up and accept that other people have different likes and passions to you.
I do accept that Ronald. But you are sitting there, moaning and crying like a little girl because some band seem to be packing it in for a while. Why dont you find something else?
You know, if Morrissey packed it in tomorrow, and Kloot packed it in on Tuesday, and Doves packed it in Wednesday, and Editors packed it on Thursday, and REM packed it in on Friday, and just for a kick in the teeth, Gabrielles Wish and Puressence packed it in next saturday, I wouldnt sit here and cry about it, because i'll find something else!
and this is coming from a person whose social life 90% revolved around live music, something which i imagine is very very different from yourself.
One wonders if the only reason you are upset is because this messageboard, which it seems quite clearly is a major fulcrum of your life, might not have the same popularity thus affecting your abilty to communicate with anyone other than the people you see at work.
silly boy. come back when you've experienced something of life and very few things keep you going.
this band's music has helped me through the tough times.
it is you who are childish in keeping a silly argument going.
i make no apologies for loving this band.
just why i am justifying myself to somebody who has been alive for less years than i have been a fan. i don't know it won't happen again.
For fuck's sake, boys, give it a rest. You both sound like a pair of prize twats.
And this coming from somone who's life is 90% spent wanking over the thought of Liam and Ron engaged in frenzied naked mud-wrestling soundtracked by "We All Stand".

i'm not sure about your choice of soundtrack there. lol

Awesome
I'd say that was a demotion, Li. You're starting to lose your edge!!!

About New Order going back to indie, I don't really know if they'd want to do that, they got used to a major status, I'm sure Hooky would release New Order on LTM, but Barney moved Electronic to Parlophone even before Factory's end (though it was very close). Anyway the main problem could be the back catalogue, I'm sure Warners would let New Order go to Rough Trade for their next album, but no way they'd let them go away with Unknown Pleasures and Technique, and the band wouldn't probably move without them (how could their do the next "best of" without their catalogue?). I think we're just back to late 1993, they won't take any final decision and just do something else for a while (i.e. side projects) until they need the money again, if that ever happens... after all they should have enough to live their remaining years (hopefully many, but hardly more than 50) and the kids are growing up, it's not like 8 years ago... Speaking of kids, is Jack still around? He must be laughing a lot on this thread, it would be nice if he made us know any relevant fact though as I said it's just happening nothing, officially... I mean I don't think they have daily meetings to decide whether they're splitting or not, things will evolve slowly...

Don't think that particular quote had anything to do with the 93 split.
Never heard that theory before. Suffice to say, it was solely to do with the split rumours.
El Jarvo wrote: Never heard that theory before. Suffice to say, it was solely to do with the split rumours.
I thought it might be a likely theory as on the Electronic Ecstacy boot he says it just after True Faith finishes.
But I just checked out the complete soundboard recording (inc Dream Attack + BLT) and he actually says it after Bizarre Love Triangle so the MJ theory seems even less likely.
Ah well
Sorry (both) Mikes! ![]()
Maybe New Order won´t release a new album ever. But I´m certain Barney and Hooky will still get wonderful tunes in their head and they will definitely continue making songs out of those tunes. Then in the Itunes world when a global release is just a click away, we will be able to download those beautiful future songs whatever the name of the artist will be. We will still be hearing Barneys great voice on new tracks for many years.

I don't want it to end ![]()
If I had thought that it might be the last time i'd see them live, I would have paid far more attention at the gigs I attended in October.

No, you were right, I misunderstood the words, though our Jarvo says I got the meaning of the phrase so it's alright, we can be friends, everyone is happy and New Order won't split. Happy ending. :D
No?
Anyway never ever link my name again with that horror puppet Jacko's in whatever way or a lawsuit will follow... ![]()

it would be the very best reason to never release a "best of" again...

I just registered today on this site and it's got be the worst news I've heard. Really hope the Buenos Aires show was not the last gig ever.
Missed them when they were last here in Toronto in 1993, but I did catch them in the summer of 1989. I haven't seen New Order in 17 years. :(
Hey now Exciter was good, Ultra was a great album, also they had to get used to producing an album without Allen Wilder who was very tough in the studio. I Agree though if New Order find them selves in a spot and feel old then hey call it quits.
Someone has mentioned what can we tell from an interview that has been translated. People... I've read the interview in Spanish... it's clear. No more No. ... certainly for a while.
But let's keep in mind that the last time New Order was interviewed by the same newspaper, they said sth like "we aren't visiting Argentina". Ehem..ehem..
Well, they'll do something. At least this takes any pressure off. Whatever happened to the 'so-called' second album from the WFTSC sessions? Yeah, not so prolific after-all I guess. Maybe Barney can hook up Johnny Marr again. Heck, this presents all kinda' possiblities and they can STILL get away with it. There must be a certain expectation being New Order that I can imagine getting tiresome. They look like they can use a rest.
I rather them call it quits now than put out mediocre albums. If they go out now, they go out pretty near the top. How much can any one fan expect? I'm cool with whatever they decide. I thankful for the plenty I got. They delivered big, and often.

THEY ARE FINISHED! THEY SHOULD HAVE SPLIT YEARS AGO! THEY ARE A SHADOW OF THEIR FORMER SELVES! THE GIGS ARE LIKE KAREOKE!
a) as someone mentioned earlier, they've released two cracking albums this decade that piss all over (in my opinion) both movement and republic.
b) if they had split years ago they wouldn't have created these albums or my favourite NO song, here to stay.
c) give them a break! they're 50-year-old men. it's more about having a good time. thank christ they don't do pyrotechnics and light shows like some aging rock bands.
d) hooky's comments to the bouncers at liverpool were far from karaoke. they may play the same songs over and over, but there's bound to be a surprise in there.
and thus ends my opinion on new order.
I thought they broke up in 1983 - damn, you mean I've missed something in the past 23 years...
time to catch up ![]()

Good point, well remembered.
Blunderer's very first post here hankered after a golden era when Barney would tell the soundman to fook off, or summat.
Should imagine Hooky ticked that box nicely in Liverpool. And then some. ![]()
