Vanishing Point........Help required!! — Forum Archive

Hello all!! Great board good work.

I need some help from you all. Back in 88-89 I was given a tape by Alan Erasmus' son (Director of Factory) of the Technique demo that had a different version of Vanishing Point that was never released. The music was the same but different lyrics. My copy 'went missing' about 10 years ago and I can't find anybody who has it. Does anybody out there have a copy they could send me? I will obviously pass on summat of similar 'worth having' New Order stuff.

The chorus went like this:

'every day outside my window i see people as their lives go broken hearts and empty wallets idle men and alcoholics do you think they'll ever learn it's what you are not what you earn do you think they'll ever listen to you.'

I will remember the rest of the lyrics if pushed but I am sure that's enough for one of you to recognise it.

Never heard of this... so my guess is no.

But since I have some stuff some people never heard of, maybe somebody has.. ;)

I take it this isnae on the leaked Technique Demo's then :scratch:

I havnae played it fer ages and ye's know what my memory is like.

If it hasnae been made available to the fans, it makes you wonder what other gems we are missing......

Retro could have been so much better.

no those Techniques demos are all instrumentals aren't they? Mostly just Hooky and electronics etc.

There must be some good gems out there. People probably thought we'd never hear the original vocal Let's Go but it got uncovered. Bet there is quite a few nuggets hidden away.

Not filling it :nod: but there were 5 CDs to play with.

Wouldn't of killed 'em to chuck a few demos on one of the discs!

Best we got with Retro was the 20 year long version of Elegia :sleep:

Surely the Dream Attack demo is the only one really worth having from the Technique demo's?

I was disappointed with the whole Technique demo tape thing. It takes away the beauty and misteque of the music.

Thanx for the response and the PC screen does show the tune. I can remember the last verse now but it still hasn't got a copy coming my way ! At least you now know that the lyrics from the PC screen are Vanishing Point 2 never released!!

I shall keep looking...............

Best of luck, it'll be a very difficult quest you find yourself on, unless you know any of the band and/or former directors of Factory? :)

I know Alan Erasmus' son who is on the case for me but aint looking good that's why I came on here. The problem is I had it once and 'lost it'. I prefer it to the release as well!

For the record anyway the last verse was summat like this give or take a few words (goin off memory!!)

'there's not too many good reasons why we pay to make our existence just to take and never for pleasure I don't think that's the best we can do'
