What did you think of The Other Two, a waste of time and recording tape or a pleasant distraction while Barney and Hooky were galavanting in solo territory??

Reckon they could have taken it any further or was it a blessing in disguise that they got dropped by their record label?

Just for the record I happen to really like Selfish as it goes, Gillians voice aint that bad you know ;)

I've only got 'The Other Two and You' don't even know if they did anything else? I seem to remember it was ok but not very memorable, haven't listened to it for many years.

1st album - Selfish, tasty fish and that other one near then end that sounds like it should be on the olympics were all great tracks.

2nd album - One last kiss is OK, most of it is crap.

Gillian has a good voice. Melanie williams is too over the top.

Was Melanie Williams the lady who sang on Sub Sub's Ain't no Love, or am I just being silly now?

I think you're right, she was.

"The Other Two and You" was less an album than two singles ("Selfish" and "Tasty Fish") and just enough filler to qualify as a "full-length" record rather than an EP.

Filler filler filler.

I traded in the album and bought the "Selfish" single instead. Unfortunately, all the remixes suck diseased platypus cock. The Moby mix is especially soul-sucking.

You're being silly now.

But, yes, it's the same Melanie Williams.

Well I'm always being silly, but at least this time I'm right ;)

Or rather, keeping things in a Sub Sub theme, you could've said, "This Time I'm Not Wrong".

Jarvo - just the man I need. Do you know if the version of Voodoo Ray from the album is the same as the one played in the hac during the factory records saga video

Can't remember to be honest, but I should imagine it was. It's been done to death over the years. Think maybe even Gerald rehashed it himself at one point, but 85% sure they used the original in the movie.

Facsy, I'm pretty sure it's the one I have on my 'North, the sound of dance underground' compilation and also a 'Flux trance' compilation. Voodoo Rage, I think one of Gerald's from about 98 is a good one. You want to avoid the Guru Josh mix though.

Its just that the version I heard on "24 Hour Party People The factory records saga" the other week, when they flashed a picture of an E and played the song, I thought it was one of the best songs i have heard for YearsAndYears. Somebody must know which version that was. Theres a prize...

They could have played Gareth Gates covering Celine Dion, as long as it flashed a piccie of an E you'd have thought I was a good song ;)

Other two and you's Ok, nice singles, a bit bland and PSBish otherwise.

Interestingly, the Voodoo Ray sample used is reputed to be Peter Cook, Dudley Moore's ex partner.

She was also the woman who did the vocals for that famous advert:

"WHOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGHHHHHHH!!!BODY-FORM!! BODY FORMED FOR YOU-OOOOOOO!!!!!!

not a lot of people know that!

My opinion similarly Gnu - the album was just so half-baked. To my ears it was four songs and six instrumental/half-formed ideas. Not much of an album actually. BUT! They at least redeemed themselves six years later with "Superhighways" which is in my opinion (Melanie Williams vocals aside) a much much stronger album as a whole and with many more PROPER songs into the bargain. In fact I play that album (Superhighways) far more than Get Ready to tell you the truth. My enthusiasm for it has been well documented/discussed in previous threads here over the past few months so I don't need to repeat myself at great length here......

So Major - you don't know what you're talking about matey... ;)

London Records dropping them ? Don't believe you.

The Other Two, completely and utterly pointless drivel.

Have the first album somewhere - played it a few times.....Tasty Fish is great, the rest didn't do that much fer me I'm afraid. Same applies with Revenge - couple of good singles, never really bothered with the albums. Prefer Monaco out of this lot;)

Monaco is the coolest! For Your Pleasure is such a great album! When I bought it, I was completely floored at how cool it was!

Anything to do with the catastrophic collapse of HTS after one week in the charts? Highly embarrasing for London Recs, a song that debuts at number 15 to drop out of the top 40 in one week i'd say..

or is just a jolly old jape to spark a little controversy?? ;)
