Anyone actually read it?
Just been scouring the net but can't seem to locate a copy anywhere, despite it being reprinted in the UK in '97.
Funny, but in the past 20 years, it's never once occurred to me, "Ooh, I should read that," and here I am on a Friday afternoon suddenly wondering why the thought's never crossed me mind before? Strange.
I'll be watching Stroszek next.

That's the "No Love Lost" book? But it's not the book where they got the name Joy Division, right? As I get older I feel pretty judgmental about the Nazi stuff. I guess that people go through phases of development as a person and self discovery but to present Nazi imagery even if you don't "believe" seems pretty immature. Though granted they were pretty young when they started. I'm not wanting to get into a big debate but I probably just started one.
"They're not Nazis!!" I know but I think when you're in the public eye you have a responsibility to think very critically about how present yourself. Of course, my point has absolutely nothing to do with all the dumb ass messages I post here. ;)
Theres a pretty big New Zealand/Australian band called Shihad who are starting to make waves in America at the moment ... They had to change their name when they went over there to Pacifier because of the Shihad/Jihad similarities ...
I think its just a name ... I think Ian and the boys picked the name because it sounded good ... Just like Shihad chose their name, because they thought it sounded good ... If you don't read into everything so seriously it shouldn't matter at all ... But thats just my opinion I guess ..
I think it's both the "No love lost" and the band name book. I saw the book on ebay once. Don't have much desire to read it though.
a lot of ian's lyrics seem to be about the way that grandiose ideology and the imperial desires of nations tend to amount to shit and mass murder in the end, and nazi germany was the most well-known example of that in the 20th century, so it was an easy way to evoke that image. i think that barney was just a little weirdo, and i don't know what the hell he was thinking with that hitler youth drummer boy
I read it years ago and don't remember too much about it apart from the JD connections. The No Love Lost bit is completely word for word. At the end I wasn't sure whether it was a genuine diary as it claimed or some exploitation trash.
Has anyone come across a definition of a joy division apart from through this book?
