define "elephant man cock."
there are several ways one could take this statement.
i'm curious how you actually meant it, is all. ![]()

i wrote you about it too...did you get that e-mail..? :)"Accelerator" sounds like its name with what you did to it. and a bit like a big plane taking off. :Di think i've only heard the original version once, though...so i'm not as well-equipped for comparison.
Yeah Janni, I did get that email - was it this morning? I haven't got round to replying to it yet - but rest assured I will answer all your questions!! :) :)
As for the plane taking off noise (!!!) - that's actually a sample of Bobby Gillespie's voice being fed thru a colossal mega-echo device and EQ'd to absolute FUCK with plenty of bass and reverb and distortion..... though you probably wouldn't believe that if i told you! Here's a clue - just before that roaring noise comes fading in, you actually hear HIS voice echoing and fading away into the distance don't you? (singing "Accelerate-celerate-celerate-celerate-celerate.....") Well it's the same sample looped backwards twice over and only this time treated in a most unreal manner!!
:D
I also thought Behind Close Doors was one of the best songs New Order have done for a long time. Does anyone know why it was included on the Japanese version of Get Ready as a bonus track? i.e why did the Japanese get 11 songs and the rest of the world only 10?

...wow!
y'know, i should've guessed something like that. not because i actually did sit and think "wow, that's got to be his voice" or anything like that...but more because it's ALWAYS the case (or so it seems...i may be exaggerating just a teensy bit here ;) ) that it's vocal processing that always throws me off!
Curve instantly comes to mind, of course. (as we all knew they would...? :D ) and...damn. can't remember what song it is, but there's an MBV song too that does this to me. i keep thinking it's a human voice, and it's really a heavily processed guitar voice... ![]()
in conclusion, i never would've guessed Bobby could fit a whole plane in his mouth! :D

What you're asking would require the mind of a record company executive to answer, and they are all criminally insane.
methinks you give them far too much credit, Gnu. for wouldn't being criminally insane make them at least a teensy bit interesting?
thought so. ;)
hrrm. where's a crossed-arm smiley when you need it? :D

I read somewhere (maybe even on this site, dunno) that Japanese record companies often put bonus tracks on because otherwise Japanese folks are liable to buy import versions of the cd, probably because of relative currency strengths or because Japanese editions of Western cds come out later. Sounds plausible.
Am I the only person here who actually thought "Behind Closed Doors" was actually very very poor.? :D
