What extras and stuff would you add to the DVD version of here are the young men?
The original video had Apollo, belgian footage footage and the lwtua promo.
You've got three hours running time what would be the ultimate DVD package?
Thoughts welcomed
The remainder of the Apollo footage (they played 17 tracks over the two nights, albeit including Transmission twice). I'd put both gigs on in their entirety. 75 mins
The full Plan K gig (now that this has surfaced at Ikon). 45 mins
The rumoured Leigh Festival film (though I remain extremely sceptical as to the existence of this) up to 35 mins
All TV footage that exists.
And:
No City Fun (for curiosity value, I guess) The full Malcolm Whitehead film from 1979 Atmosphere promo Wired documentary
Make it a double-layer DVD with four hours of running time.
All of the suggestions sound good to me and is there any possibility of a 'Joy Division Story' documentary similar to the 'New Order Story'? Failing that their Granada TV appearences in their entirity may be interesting. Cheers!

Glad I'm not the only one wondering why anyone would bother with a DVD of it. No amount of digital wizardry is ever going to be able to stop it sounding shit and looking even shitter.

You got New Order, A certain Ratio, Gillian in a bath with Tony Wilson, Martin Hannet shooting a gun...that's entertainment!
Well yes the picture and sound quality are going to be shite, as that is all they have to work on, but nobody besides Ikon and a lucky few has yet seen the full Plan K footage.

Yes, Plan K is an entirely different proposition. From a marketing point of view, it would seem more sensible to make that the main feature and relegate HATYM to 'bonus material' status.

ikon had a factory night at a manchester club on the oxford road early82,quite well attended . they showed alot of a.c.r,durriti,new order and loads of joy division. the quality and sound varied but hours of j.d. though they did start repeating after 2.a.m. always thought they did a couple of more showings. this would have been prior to the "here are the young men "vid.
there was a live band on and bass king did the sound,,,his reward? dreams never end from "a bad night in rochdale " it was shitte.
can never understand why wilson never got round to releasing this footage given how he managed to get the preston and paris stuff out..
