Candy- please let us know what was on the video that accompanied the GetReady CD in Australia! Did it contain any unique artwork or anything?

Free T-shirts and free videos were widely advertised by Warner here in WA, yet, TYPICALLY, I tried around 15 stores (all of the ones they cited in their ads) and only two of them claimed they actually received the videos and even then they only got 2 tapes!!! Freakin Warner screw up again-bullshit advertising and now it appears there are no more tapes.. I'm considering trying other states.. All I want to know is are the videos worth it? Being a collector, I figured something unique to Australia was worth pursuing....

By the way, GetReady went straight into the Australian Album chart at number 7, the Alternative chart at number 2, and Crytal went into the Alt Singles chart at number 2.. Damn you Slipknot.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, Depth - damn workload! The vid in question came in a plain white cardboard sleeve (so no artwork at all, unless this is one of Saville's new 'minimalsit' phases), and contains the clips as follows: Blue Monday 1988, Blue Monday (original version, edited to 3.40 and dubbed to 1983 TOTP footage - bizarre), BLT, Regret, Round & round, Shellshock, TBTHOG and Confusion (not in that order, but close to it). Total running time is around 45 mins. No additional info: nothing between songs, and the sticker simply said "New Order - The Videos". When I got the CD at JB Hi-Fi, the salesperson just grabbed a vid from a large box behind the counter and handed it across. The T-shirt I have is very small (XXS), so I will probably end up giving to my 5YO nephew, or put it on the buy/sell/trade bit of this site. I'll consider swapping it for a good video transfer of Academy...

Hi Depth - sorry it took so long to reply, I've been busy. The vid in question came with no packaging at all - just a plain cardborad sleeve. The clips included are Blue Monday 1988, Blue Monday original version (cut to 3.40, and dubbed with the 1983 TOTP footage - weird), BLT, True Faith, Regret, Round & round, Shellshock, World in Motion, Confusion and TBTHOG (not necessarily in that order, but close). It runs for about 45 min, and apart from the sticker (which reads "New Order - The Videos", and the Warner Music Australia logo), there is no discernible packaging at all - not even credis for videos etc. Still, not too bad for free.. It might be worthwhile getting an east coast contact to grab it for you from a JB Hi-Fi - it's certainly worth it. The t-shirt is pretty small (XS), so I might trade it in the buy/sell/trade section of this site for a good VHS transfer of Academy...any takers? CTD

sorry about the repetition there - I didn't think my first post worked. I feel like a right knob now... CTD

Not at all- it happens to the best of us happens to the best of us... ;)

Anyhow, being sadly bereft of a reliable music contact over East, if I was to post you some cashola / a NO trade, you wouldn't be able to secure one, perchance? I've got a feeling there's very few left and I'm dead keen for one.. No probs if you can't of course.. Cheers, dC

I wasn't aware that t-shirts and videos were given out until after I bought the CD. I don't think the HMV store I went to had them anyway. I'm so pissed off.

Good to see NO are charting well here. i just hope No tour down under.

I like your thinking, Ahmad, but it seems only the lucky buggers in US and Europe are going to see NO live. I was lucky enough to se them circa 86 in Melbourne (Brotherhood tour), but I don't think I'll ever get the chance again, short of travelling to the UK. Cue tears. CTD

Sorry to not answer your question there, Depth. I have called all the local JB Hi-Fi's and they've told me that there are no more vids available - a real pity, as I was prepared to grab one for you with said "cashola" arrangement, but it seems it's not to be. Sorry 'bout that. I can look into getting a dub done for you, but it kind of defeats the purpose of a collectible. CTD
