I just got through watching the 317 or whatever it's called DVD where they performed in 1998. Barney was singing Temptation and towards the end during the "oh it's the last time" verse, he was going "Oh it's the last time, Oh it's the last time, Oh it's the laaaaaast FUCKING time!"

That threw me TOTOALLY off guard and cought me by surprise! What are some other examples of songs where Barney unexpectedly blurted out a profane word during the song? That was hilarious as fuck.

It's more unexpected when he does'nt,no?

Age of Consent from BBC's shoddy Glastonbury 1987 CD springs to mind:

"Im not the kind that likes to tell you Just what the f*ck you want me too"

Or Blue Monday from PFD with Barneys rant at the lighting crew. I forget the exact term but its got the "C" word in it. Perhaps someone else can enlighten you?

There is an utterly shocking version of 'Krafty' performed somewhere in Italy,I think, last year where Barney shouts the whole thing like a radjed nutter, which is pretty funny..

The pottymouth is usually kept under control. That control word again, sorry. Usually may be stretching it a bit :)

Skullcrusher springs to mind. Great version where he's pissed off at whoever's in charge of the sound.

BM & Temptation from BBC Saturday live '84 is probably the best televised pottymouth incident, altho' the whole thing is quality for Bernards' foul temper that day. It's pretty much kept under control these days as Tim says, but most of the boots' from the '80's include some sort of gem.It was the norm back then! He leaves it to Hooky these days  :thumb:

Not part of a song but I loved that 'This song is about when Hooky met Phil in prison' dialogue before BLT at Roskide 2002.

We were In Oxford on Sunday and it reminded me of the boot of 86 gig there when Barney called the audience cunts amongst many other things.

Who gives a fuck?

(That's not a comment on the thread, it's something Barney says in the middle of a song at some gig or other. £40 to the first one to name the gig, song and colour of t-shirt Al was wearing on the night.)

Wasn't that the Cleveland , Ohio gig 05/07/89 ?

edit: during Mr Disco ?

But the question is... does the autocue have those words? :evil4:

That's why I hate the tard-0-prompter. Back in the day, when he forgot his lines, his brain booted to it's default "swear mode" and off he went.

"gonna do a bit of improvisational singing now, fuck fuck fuck fuck, basically" Woolwich, I believe.

Bootleg of NYC05.....somebody's dad sings SLC in a monty python "pepperpot" voice. Fuckin classic. Gone from sanitized version, along with Barney's hilarious "you all worship Ian for killing himself, but don't give a fuck about my sore foot" routine.

Aside from THAT [classic quote there, Nico, SIR!], my faves include...

During 'Ceremony' - 24 April '83, Rosehill Hotel Kilkenny, Ireland And Barney's like, 'Straight from Top Of The Pops, we have New Order! On my left, we have Peter Hook. On my right, we have Gillian Gilbert. Behind me, we have Ian Curtis.'

OUCH! :evil4:

Another classic [and personal fave Barney quip, not singing]-- 'Would you please turn yer fookin' bass down?' [Of course, that's to Hooky, and we all know how HE reacts to that!]

And, my personal favorite Barney singing quip: During 'Your Silent Face' - 28 April '89, Universal Amphitheater, LA [USA] --'Sound formed in a vacuum may seem a waste of time, It's always been just the same: No lyrics, no songs, No meaning, no nothing--just fuck-ups!!'

 Class, Barno. Class.

Face Up from G-MEX '86 I think, can't remember exactly what he says, but it's during the breakdown bit & something like 'I can't hear it any fucking more' & I think there's a cnut in there too:shrug: :thumb:

tits are for sucking her cnut is for fucking.

confussion i believe..

The Tokyo '85 bootleg (night either before or after Pumped Full Of Drugs performance) Barney addresses the audience as "OK you motherfookers" during either Thieves Like Us or The Perfect Kiss. I seem to recall that boot having a lot of potty mouth.

There's hardly a gig between 83 and 87 where he didn't swear in at least one song, or between songs. Also quite a few select outbursts between 1980-82. Hardly big news, but there you go. Think we did have a thread about this before, including the full transcript of the Face Up debut, possibly the biggest outbreak of pottymouth yet known.

During the little break in between the verses, just before the explosion sounds, Bernard yells out at one of the lighting crew to:

"Turn that light off you c*nt"

He was being blinded by the lights,
