Ah well, I've been mailed, it seems that "the other site" confirmed my information about Recycled being released later this year!

Bernard himself stated it will be released for Christmas...!

So you see that my source was reliable :D

P/S: It's also written that they will start recording new songs in October and that there will be no more single from Get Ready, are those songs for the box set or not, that information is not known!

that's great. hopefully NO will lose their reputation for being slow with their output of material and thier unreliability in delivering the goods.

Some of us possibly aren't as thrilled to hear of the box set's impending release...

If you own all of the original stuff that's in it, all you get is a few tracks on CD that were previously vinyl or cassette only, a new tune or two, and hopefully some decent artwork. For a lot of spoondoolicks. Plus your collection is devalued.

But we'll buy the damn thing anyway.

I'd rather see a new album.

it completely depends whats on it. I'm missing loads of b-sides and stuff from the 80's, and if Recycle can account for this gaping gaps in my collection then I'll be chuffed.

Is it the full singles collection? Are they gonna put demos and live versions on 'em as was originally rumoured? And won't it be worth the money to get "Temptation" (rinky-dink 1982 version) on CD??

Well, won't it?????

We were talking to David Sultan after the gig, and he stated that the band wanted to know what the fans wanted in the Box set. My response was "Perfect Kiss 2002 version".....

Im really excited about the upcoming box set ... And I have to agree with the inclusion of 'The Perfect Kiss 2002' Would definately salivate over that ...

Does anyone have any idea what is going to be on this Box Set? I heard that it was going to be a collection of all the singles a bit like Blur and The Jam did recently. I heard this back in February 1999 and little else since. It's really starting to do my head in as I have only recently replaced all my vynil albums with CDs. What I need now is to replace all my vynil 12"s.

Lifted directly from the other site

I just came back from a great New Order show in Paris (May 26) and had a pleasant chat with Bernard (Barney) Sumner backstage. He did confirm the release of a New Order box set by Christmas 2002. This box set will contain New Order singles.

Tracklisting is not final and he wants to know what the fans want.

What about releases of just the original version never available on CD ???, Or the addition of demos. Or anything else you can come up with...

I will be in touch with him via the management and will hopefully see him again June 09 in London.

This is a real opportunity for fans like us to express our thoughts on the content.

hmm...the much talked about box set supposedly comes to life this Christmas....forgive me if I don't get too excited about this news just yet..

I am not too bothered whether they do a box set or not. There doesn't seem to be much stuff that is isn't or hasn't been pretty readily available unless there are some unreleased gems lurking anywhere. I would suspect we would have heard them before now.

However if by going through the back catalogue it gets them to 're-discover' some of the old NO classics, like they have done with JD, which could then be played live I would be well chuffed.

A means to an end indeed...

The thing is, what's the big idea of releasing a best of and a box set in the same year?!!

I seriously don't get it.

As for the box set, what I'd like to see is something different than Heart & Soul...

A bunch of CD with every single, every version of those song AND the video of that song if available.

A CD of B-Sides, and a CD of rarities.

I'm assuming the box set will have the tracks crammed onto as few discs as possible, but it'd be nice if each single release came on its own disc, with the original vinyl artwork appearing on the CD packaging. I hope they won't forget some of the seven inch versions which are hard to come by ('Thieves Like Us'/'Everything's Gone Green'/'State Of The Nation'/'Bizarre Love Triangle'/'Temptation') and the edited B-sides or dub mixes too. Basically feature for each single:

-7 inch A side -7 inch B side -12 inch A side -12 inch B side -any other remixes from different formats

To save on the plastic, maybe two or three single releases could be fitted onto each disc. It's important to include Peter Saville's original artwork for each single, as that was such an integral part of each release.

It'd also be nice to include the unreleased 'promo' edits of tracks like the original Confusion (featured in the video), and wasn't there an edited version of the original Blue Monday release which the band disapproved of?

Tip: If they get up to as recent as 'Ruined In A Day', I'd forget all about putting those awful Sly and Robbie remixes on there, as all five mixes were virtually identical.

Relax, depthy.......

I think there are lotsa genuine collectors out there will pay a lot of spoondoolicks for original release CDs and packaging......

I myself own 5 CDs of Lowlife ( the album that changed my life )...all slightly different....original Fact disc, Centredate disc, Thick postcards/tracing paper cover, Thinner postcards/tracing paper cover, Stapled printed photos cover & Japanese import, all trivial stuff but important to me.......and i havent mention my 3 vinyl copies.......

Also, i doubt those singles released under the Recycled series would replace or be a substitute to those originals you have....in a true fan's eyes......

The Man Morrison's got it spot on: you've gotta have those Saville sleeves. If they insist on cramming all this stuff on a few discs (and I guess they will, 'cos otherwise it'll be so expensive that it'll my Christmas present to myself for the NEXT FUCKING DECADE!) how's about giving us 12" replicas of each sleeve?? Demos'd be nice: quality near-irrelevant given the live bootleg tosh included on "Heart & Soul"; remixes: only if they are new. And not total shite. And live versions would be cool as well. I hope they do listen to us chumps wot buy their records and make a good job of it. "Recycle" is a great title as well: v. New Order, and nicely cynical with it.

You'll be buying this box of delights for your kid this Xmas then, Mick?

Hey I just thought, there's quite a few hard to find remixes spread out over those formats... Don't forget Shep Pettibone's 'True Faith (The Morning Sun Remix - Edit)' which was on some soundtrack album somewhere. Also the original seven inch edit of 'Perfect Kiss' and 'Kiss Of Death', which I think was different to the twelve inch and 'Low-life' versions. There's also an extended remix of 'Paradise' which was on an imported remix 12" of 'true Faith' that I never got around to finding a copy of. If I'm going to be paying a bomb for this boxed set I WANT MY GAPS FILLED IN. (Ooh, er).

Like Grigori, I'm a little hesitant to get my hopes up about this, but I would like to see it come to pass.

Some months ago, someone else on this forum - can't recall whom - posted an excellent breakdown of ALL THE SINGLES as repackaged in MINIATURE CD SLEEVE VERSIONS of the 12" covers, and each CD contained all the relevant tracks - 12 and 7-inch versions and B-sides - across all the various original formats.... surely this would be the very concept of this elusive box set as preferred by all the completists amongst us?? Not another fooking cursorily pointless collection across a few full-length CDs including a selection (rather than the FULL Complement) of b-sides or unreleased / import / one-off remixes.... plus the obligatory DVD of videos thrown in for good measure.... who else thinks this should be the case??? :skeptic:

Too many opportunities have been pissed down the river over the years.....and then when something DOES happen, it's usually a half-arsed unfulfilled compromise gesture which reeks of cop-out big time......that simply isn't good enough.... GET IT RIGHT!! GET IT RIGHT!!! Are you listening London Records/WEA, you stupid clueless fookers???

Yup, Righteous Marty Gray hits the proverbial nail on the head: if its not the full monty, there ain't no point. These things are only ever for the obsessives/trainspotters/completists/dipsomaniacs anyway, so give us what we want.

Purrrrrrrrr-lease.
