Is there or isn't there a New Order anymore?

I'll ask Hooky what he really want to do ( or not) with NO,or - should i say -what he thinks now about NO ,if i have the chance to have a talk with him at the end of this mounth - he will do a live DJ set close to my hometown.And i'll be there! Naturellement! Of course the rest of the band can carry on under the name of NO . Why not? But do u really think it would be the best thing to do ? ???? How can we imagine NO without Hooky bass lines ?After Ian died JD changed its name and developped a new musical way... It could be a good solution again. But i'm asking me too if Barney , Steve ( and why not Hooky himself) are still interested in doing Rock Music ???? In fact this is maybe a central question. This is the question i 'll ask me if i was still in a rock band and if i was a 51 years old man? I'm 44 myself , and well i've played rock music from 1980 to 1993... I hardly imagine me on stage today sayin"YEAH! Let's rock" ...But, obviously, i'm not in NO ( ça se saurait!) and they can have a different point of view. All of this is just speculation. But what about the other WFTSC songs, unrealeased ??? This is my last remark.

Indeed, a lot of people think this is the *official* site, which make this *almost* true for nowadays press. Some lazy journalist will google "new order new lineup" and BAM! we got "Gillian is back to New Order" in a headline somewhere in India.

Replace Hooky with a TB303 Roland Bass Simulator... if the guys can still remember how to work that machine.

How can you even contemplate going on without Peter Hook...?! The band is damn close to karoke with Bernard reading the autocue over it as it is, and now you say Hooky can be replaced, just have somebody imitate him. The synths/ programming are already memorex as it is and the guitar has been outsourced to a studio hand. Maybe Bernard to record a new album and just have people produce the record for him, just like Depeche Mode and Madonna.

The last two records and tours have been a fun encore to their career, but don't turn New Order into a total joke

I seriously cannot fookin' believe there are people on here who would even consider N.O. being N.O. without Hooky.Just like it wouldn't be the same without Bernard or Steve.Would you have U2 without Bongo? The Banshees without Siouxsie? RHCP without Keidis or Flea? Would you fook,they are all integral members of their bands & the main focal points.Do not let the memory of such a monumental & influential band be soured by seeing them carry on without someone who is as much responsible for the bands sound & therefore for them being N.O. in the first place,by just being a pale,karaoke shadow.Not a fookin' chance

i think peter hook will go back to new order if they'll release songs like "working overtime" as a single.

peter hook should stop being drama queen everybodys going to see him as a dj just because to see legend himself, right ?

or he can sit and mourning about the good old days, watching loads of bands stealing chords/artworks/attidute from them.

Im getting pretty pissed off with the hero worship that surrounds Peter Hook. I think Hooky should stop being an arse. As for his 'DJ-ing skills', I saw him 'perform' at Cardiff Calling last year. It basically consisted of him playing JD cds, shouting 'whooo' a lot, kicking his legs in the air, and putting his arms behind his head. What an artist.

I'm curious, does Hooky play any techno/trance at his DJ sets? Does he do any scratching?

To me ...... there is no New Order without 'Hooky' , his sound an stage presence was attrcted me to JD/NO so thats it in my eyes. I know a band is bigger than one member, but Hooky just had that 'edge' you know.

When Cornwell left the Stranglers I was devastated, but it was Burnel/Greenfield that gave the stranglers there sound.Now, Cornwell is'nt missed, Baz Warne who plays guitar , and now taken over the vocals has gave them the 'edge' again.

You can't argue that Hooky is a very big character, and has been a very important part of New Order and his trademark bass is part of the New Order sound... but then again we all still bought Republic!

hooky is irreplacable. Hell, I could do it myself, but I think that it would be in poor taste. even for gallup to do it. Simon Raymonde I would enjoy seeing in there tho cause he would straighten them up a bit for the albums ;)

umm cause they need another drummer? I bet Andy Rourke is who you are meaning sir. And given the whole thing with Andy Rourke, Mani and Hooky I doubt either of those 2 end up in the band. They will probably just DAT it, or Phil could play bass and get Gillian back in on keys/guitars. Either that or hire Wolfgang VanHalen!
