I've never understood the attraction of bootlegs, especially when the quality is as piss poor as that. It's a slice of history and all that but would you ever want to stick it on your hifi and listen to it?
Freebass thing sounds good though. Guessing the vocals are written for that particular track and they're just waiting to be added? Wouldn't work as an instrumental.
Sounds slightly better than the earliest Warsaw demos. Only slightly, mind.
The Freebass track is a good one, although they definitely took its best bit for the TV theme.

It's obviously been converted to a lower bitrate than mp3s usually are. No doubt Hooky's tape sounds better, at least better than most tapes do after three decades or so.

Another awful Warsarrr track. But nice to hear something BRAND NEW. The Freebass track is okay, but pretty unspectacular "generic rock" sounding.
Come on, the Warsaw track is fookin great, sheer punk anger, never thought Ian could sing that way... I love it! It's better than the Freebass one, which is indeed generic rock, sounds a bit like a B side in a transition from Revenge to Monaco... let's wait for the finished work though...

Judging by the Warsaw demos, this one fits right in with the other crap. Generic, immediately disposable punk. Angry, sure...but that was the put-on attitude of the day. Nothing to suggest the lyrical and musical advancement that the band would leap toward by 1979. And they'd certainly never have gone anywhere by remaining yet another one of the million punk bands vying for attention at the time.

Hmmm, just wondering if the juxtaposition of the two tracks is intended to make the Freebass track sound better... 
The Warsaw is interesting as an artefact, Freebass one sounds good, still like to hear a bit more from them though...

Well,as a piece of musical history,the Warsaw track is massive,but to the ears,it's fookin' terrible!
Really like the Freebass demo,bit PIL-ish & quite reminscent of Skullcrusher too as someone has said,but the guitar line is doing it no favours is it,it's all over the place.& after 23 years,Hooky finally gets his 'brass section'...." if The Jam can do it,I'm sure we can "

That Freebass track sounds a bit throwaway and forgettable; more like an aimless jam really. A bit of a real let down on first few listens... even the obscure Monaco demos (Glass Box etc) had much more charisma.
He probably should've kept this one to himself until it had some vocals over the top and some proper mixing done.

I can't beleive you people... Freebass is currently the only "new" stuff we can get, except obviously Control.

Need I point out that we HAVE to complain about all the new stuff. (Remember a little song called Jetstream?) Griping about everything the band does. It's what separates us from Cure fans.

????? So we've all got to say it's great, even if it isn't, in case Hooky reads this (highly unlikely) and feels all hurt and neglected? Crazy. Besides, the man's got big enough bollocks to take a bit of criticism.
Er, free speech has gone out of the window then, Nic? Just because the band read the site? I don't think anyone's put anything offensive or violated the NOOL terms and conditions here; just honest responses.
Hooky's a big boy... he put the track up and he knows he'll get feedback - good and bad. There's bugger all point in us being so sycophantic we'll swallow anything new and say it's automatically marvellous.
I'm still interested in hearing more from Freebass but something a bit more "finished"
