Hi, I got 2 copies of EGG, but I wonder which one is the original? One of them have blue label on the vinyl and a matt cover. The other one a red label on the vinyl with glossy cover. Both are FBN, Factory Benelux, my feeling is that the matt with blue print on the vinyl is the first one...

Yes, a bit more info would be needed - for instance, "Everything's Gone Green" appeared on a 7" single as a b-side (or was it double A-side) to "Procession" - there were 9 different sleeves to the UK release alone...
It also appeared as a 12" single via Factory Benelux (and subsequent CD single).
Nice that the band kept things simple!
there seems to be several versions of every single, collecting them all would be almost impossible, but I bet there's a few people here that have come near, if not succeeded.

Quite right, Nick The UK 7" was a 'double A side' but it seemed that 'Procession was regarded as the intended 'single' track, as EGG appeared as a Benelux 12" and CD as you say. If you have a look in the 'Music' section of the site, I think it still lists the colours of the covers. These were all released in plain, grey cardboard sleeves with a single colour design on the front- the design itself was intended to represent 'Procession', which is probably why people regard it as the 'A' side. The 12" single does also come in two different sleeves as a Benelux release, one is, indeed, glossy, in the same way as original releases of 'Confusion 12"'the other in the more 'matt' style of singles such as 'Murder', 'Thieves Like Us', etc. For the life of me though, I can't remember which was the first pressing. I'll check my collection and get back to you guys. Oh, and you can find 'EGG' on the Canadian and US EPs as well. 'That's not a light at the end of the tunnel, it's a trainspotter with a torch'

Not just that - Procession was the song that was played on the radio & reviewed by the press, it was always seen as the A side.

Funny that - as a high student living in Malaysia in the early 80s, the very first New Order song played on our local 'alternative' radio show (its considered alternative cuz its only on for 1 hour after 10pm once a week) was EGG. It was always played after LWTUA and I've never heard of Ceremony before until after arriving in Australia. I remember then I thought the synth on EGG was a bit too abrasive as I was a young Numanoid in those days...I guess Gazza's synths are more POP-friendly......still, I thought I was pretty cool then, hahahah,....cuz in my classroom those days in Malaysia, you were either a Bee Gees fan or a ABBA fan.:)

I remember buying the 12" from 'Adrians' who used to advertise in the NME, and it came with a free copy of the JD 'Komakino' flexi.
