Video of the "good old days" at BBC in 1984

Prolly been posted before i'm sure... I know New Order was great because they were not a normal rock band but how come the media savvy Tony Wilson couldn't at least buy some decent clothes for an appearance on the BBC?

Got to love Bernard's sleeveless shirt, cute white gym shorts, and white socks. So dorky it is almost cool now. Hooky's who gives a fuck "wifebeater", and Gillian looks as comfortable and natural as she ever did. And the music is pretty cool too.

"I still find it so hard... to stay in tune with you... but I'm quite sure you will tell me... what the fuck we should do..." Did they actually air that?

And don't forget Steve, who busted his ass on that damn drumset.

They did indeed. I sat and watched it happen that afternoon, whilst recording the FM portion of the simultaneous broadcast. The radio broadcast stayed with New Order a bit longer at the end, whilst the TV faded them out to fit in a trailer or something.

At the end of Temptation on the FM broadcast version you can hear Barney sing:

Oh, it's the last time. Oh, it's the last time.

And then he adds: "An' it fookin' is!"

Because they only arrived at the studio 20 minutes before they were due on air - and had more pressing equipment failure problems to sort out rather than worry about what not to wear.

you could be right. I remember seeing some pictures of barney with leftovers on his nose. Photos were probably altered.

Whatever it was it caused him to act like a complete tool. I watched it live too and it was pretty sad. They started really well with Sooner Than You Think (first tiem I'd ever heard it) but Barney just ruined IALP with his constant yelping at Steve to go faster - it's IALP ya numbskull, it's meant to be bloody slow!
