If you really feel this way then why bother signing up on a New Order web site 15 years after the band supposedly went to shit then post 145 times? I've noticed your replies in the MFP forum and you don't half whinge on a bit, do you, Michael? You make Jack Dee sound like he has a real zest for life.

Since Technique there's been three albums, numerous gigs and some genuinely good times where it's been a right laugh being a New Order fan. I got into them post-Technique so I'm not going to have some random twat tell me they never did a good thing since 1989. Most people on here who went to the gigs in the last 6 years will also surely testify to that.

There have been some ropey periods (including this latest 'split' episode) but change the record eh? Your Hooky blog parody was half-amusing but I found it difficult to laugh because there seemed to be real venom behind it rather than light-hearted banter.

Decent reply, cheers. Okay so I exaggerate a tad to make a point, but you must admit there've been loadsa disappointments recently. We all got excited about indie supergroup Freebass, all we've had is two minutes of 'Tube' instrumental plus an 'instrumental in progress'. 'The Best of Electronic' was seven years, Johhny's talk of digging rarities up outa the archives, Barney's promise of two new tracks, and what did we get?... And Hooky really has been going on, like now he says he's 'prepared to meet Barney', Jesus it's like the Prime Minister saying he's prepared to open peace talks with Iraq or something. Where's the fun? I ain't nostalgic, I got into New Order around Technique and got into them further when I saw Electronic December 1991. Yeah there's been some decent stuff since ('Music for Pleasure' was a return to form, even 'Twisted Tenderness' was an improvement after the crushing disappointment of 'Raise The Pressure'), but overall there's been way more talk than action. A shame since they were always considered a band who played without compromise - gigging, collaborating, Hassie-ing etc. Oh and another compilation and I'm gonna bust my proverbial breeches. Incidentally, there's no venom in my blog parody. I've worked as a comedian and one of the important things I've learned is how to take the piss out of everyone including yourself without bitterness or rage fucking things up... Oh and I preferred the old Jack Dee when he was a grumpy sod instead of Mr Light Entertainment.
