Charlatans rip off Sunrise?

Keep hearing new Charlatans single 'You Cross my Path' on XFM released on 22nd, and it appears to have more than a passing resemblance to Sunrise, the more and more i hear it. I know Tim Burgess is sposed to be a big NO fan.

Yep a very obvious Sunrise rip off in the guitar and beat.Doesn't make it a good song though

I read that the Charlatans are making their new album completely free and downloadable on XFM's website as of Oct 22. So I guess they'll be a few people on here downloading. Maybe this free albums business is going to take off.

The vocals seem to imitate another song but I can't think of it, but the sound and structure of the track are totally inspired by "Sunrise". And maybe the sorta rambling vocal style of Artic Monkeys

Well, it is an underused style to imitate... good for them, "Sunrise" was kinda poorly produced on Low-life. Will the Charlatans make much of a ripple anyway?

Burgess said something at the Rock Ness festival about buying New Orders instruments off of them before playing a new song called 'Vanity' or summit. I was a bit fried so it's vague

They weren't even trying to make it sound like their own. Just sad.

Met Tim Burgess and his wife twice within a week this summer and hes a really nice bloke, chatted to him about new order...The fact he loves new order makes me love him even more

But anyway, that tune is just Sunrise!!!!

the album isnt available to download yet - it was the single that was available from oct.

I heard a Charlatans song on the radio earlier today, not sure whether it's a new single or what, but it bore a passing resemblance to Blue Monday.
