Charlatans rip off Sunrise?

Yep a very obvious Sunrise rip off in the guitar and beat.Doesn't make it a good song though![]()
I read that the Charlatans are making their new album completely free and downloadable on XFM's website as of Oct 22. So I guess they'll be a few people on here downloading. Maybe this free albums business is going to take off.
thank the lord, thought it was just me,never mind waiting for the orange one, wait for the rip off song when, you think no one gives a shit, very poor ,we all ,know and stand.thought they would have more respect.![]()
Havnae heard this yet, but The Charlies are the bollocks and Tim's not only a massive fan, but an honorary ![]()

You got to the end?
;)
Agreed. But so fuck..They won't be the first or the last.Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery an all that..Saw Tim Burgess boppin to The Order, side stage at Move 2002,and he gave a shout for The Vikings at Boro town Hall at a Charlos gig last Chrimbo..He's a fan alright
Fair play,as long as they admit it.Good band The Charlatans, always were ![]()
Good spotting though Burt ![]()

Col posted a pic here somewhere. Burgess wearing a Vikings badge at Manc vs Cancer earlier this year (robbed off Liddle, apparently!)
On the subject of Vikings, must get this book! ![]()

Will check out that new Charlatans album - sounds good! ![]()

The vocals seem to imitate another song but I can't think of it, but the sound and structure of the track are totally inspired by "Sunrise". And maybe the sorta rambling vocal style of Artic Monkeys
Well, it is an underused style to imitate... good for them, "Sunrise" was kinda poorly produced on Low-life. Will the Charlatans make much of a ripple anyway?

Given that both bands talk to each other, lawyers are probably not necessary...

Burgess said something at the Rock Ness festival about buying New Orders instruments off of them before playing a new song called 'Vanity' or summit.
I was a bit fried so it's vague

Well, seperately!

Unfortunately, may be the best thing that The Charlatans (anyone else think that name is ironic?) have ever done...
Who cares? It's not like New Order are squeaky clean on the borrowing other people's tunes and passing them off as their own front!
At least they're nicking a good NO song! Could have been a rip off of Rock The Shack..
I'm a big Charlatans fan
Met Tim Burgess and his wife twice within a week this summer and hes a really nice bloke, chatted to him about new order...The fact he loves new order makes me love him even more ![]()
But anyway, that tune is just Sunrise!!!!
daylight robbery...im really dissapointed
Here's the next single, 'Oh Vanity'.
As Shug said in another thread, its a big nod to WFTSC. Is this new album a tribute album? ![]()
Funny, Burt, heard the next single yesterday and I was going to hunt down this thread to say that it was a rip off of WFTSC.

He even 'whoops' like Barney in that version
Charlies are the bollocks, as I've said before. Cousin Stubbsy has the downloaded tracks on in the car all the time, if the rest of the album is as good, I'll be happy.
ok i download the new the charlatans album. and i really love some tracks: bad days, the misbegotten, bird reprise... am i traitor ? ![]()
I heard a Charlatans song on the radio earlier today, not sure whether it's a new single or what, but it bore a passing resemblance to Blue Monday.
