Who gives a flying f**k what people vote for, as long as their not extremist left/right/religion etc.. it dont matter. Curtis was nowt (politically speaking) compared to Weller who flipped sides in 78' and wrote fantastic songs (Smithers Jones/Sat.. Kids et al)and the Specials- we still love them regardless of our own political views. I always immensely enjoyed a Marxist far left band called McCarthy and thoroughly enjoyed their gigs even though politically what they said didnt sit well with me. I also (still do) go and see Anarchist bands such as Conflict et al cos i get a buzz off em simple as that. Distinctly remember discussing t-shirts £ profit with Steve Ignorant in late 80's - he was far from convincing in his justification. But i'll be fucked if i want anarchy. Only last month i managed to catch up with Penny Rimbald (Crass) who came up here for a arts event. Didn't agree with the communal far leftist animal lib shit he came out with but non-the-less i enjoy a bit of Nagassaki Nightmare!
I am Liberal, but just because someone is conservative, that doesn't make them a bad person.
A good friend of mine is a bit conservative..he is more if a Libertarian, actually.....he is also very open minded, intelligent, well read, and a good guy. So, we get along quite well, though we do have different political views.

As it has been stated already who cares who he voted for although I expect that most muscians voted left wing in the past and still do today.

Exactly! I actually quite enjoy intelligent conservatives....its good to have an intelligent, friendly discussion over politics. Plus, I have friends and family who are conservative. I love them. We are human beings...we have far more in common than we do our political differences. We all know that most politicians are asses anyways.
You are right....I suspect that most musicians and artists vote to the Left. Hah hah. :)
I think it's important to remember that the Labour government of the late seventies' inability to manage the unions almost brought Britain to it's economic knees in terms of strikes and the three day week. I'm no fan - even these days - of the Tories but at least they told the unions where to shove it and got the country back on some sort of even keel.
It's swings and roundabouts with any political system where parties having their time in the sun then fall from grace after a decade or so - see Mr Brown slipping down the opinion polls as we speak.
I couldn't really give a toss that Ian voted Tory to be honest... in context of the time period they must've seemed a perfectly reasonable alternative.
