Tony Wilson's portrayal in Control

Haven't seen the movie yet, but I have seen the bit where he introduces Transmission on Granada, and it really annoys me. He comes across as the most boring, stale (lack of) personality imaginable. The actor playing him has none of the charm or humour in Tony's delivery.

Also something grates me every time... the way the guy playing AHW says "this is the FIRST program to bring you the FIRST television appearances from..." Surely that's a glaring grammatical error? Having "first" in there twice makes no sense, makes me wonder how no one said anything during filming.

Can people who have seen it say what they think about Control's version of AHW?

Yep i agree.Seen the film and i was deeply dissapointed with 'Tony' .Nothing like the real Tony

just watched control today.

Thought gretton was excellent, as good as his the 24hpp version!

Great to see the songs played by the actors, the end scene really really touches and well done.

Couple of scenes w/ AHW are kickers. Lightens the 'Atmosphere considerably and with ease. Cool and collected. Unimpressed. Passing out in style after mis- spellin Morris.

2. Beautifully shot. The Lighting. Translating the True colour spectrum to Black and White. Catching various shades Black to Wht. and all manners of Grey.. The Clothes esp. IC's high collared Jacket, shoes, Dress shirts w/ top buttons left undone are lasting images. Much Credit to Corbijn for the snap shot of the Times.

3. Written Grammar. Is it so important in plain speech or in conversation.

it was wonderful to be transported back to 1980 .Then stepped out of the cinema into 2007 - chav/yob culture , mobile ringtones, Razorlight fans , that kind of general scum

Good thing! Didn't pay attention to '07 at all. As it was the Late night- Downtown show.

Definately disagree about Gretton,thought the guy was excellent,different than 24PP,but excellent,& funny,nonetheless.ATW,however,waa a bit poor to me,a bit too fey & foppish.A small detail tho',didn't ruin the film for me :\ohwell:

Agreed 100%. Guess. Genuine, critical judgement Left out as he's passed now. His character is 2- Dimentional w/ showing just apparent Distain or Disenchantment..

Issues w/ how Stephen Morris' character was script.
