Barney + Alex James = Bad Lieutenant

Thought you all might be interested in this...

We've been dead busy at the mo working and playing very hard! Our first single 'Last One Standing' will be released in the next few weeks on Vinyl Revival Records. We're really excited and feeling positive about it all. Itunes ep release is going really well also so thanks to all of you who have downloaded it. Feel like it's all beginning to happen for us finally. XFM (in particular Clint Boon) has really got behind us on this aswell as Revolution radio so a big thanks to them for all their help so far. Also Colin White for putting his money where his mouth is and releasing it for us! Review of the single will be in The Guardian soon aswell!

Me and Matt have also been working with some of our heroes for the last year on another project called 'Bad Lieutenant'. Band members so far are myself ( Jake Evans), Matt Evans, Bernard Sumner, Phil Cunningham and Steve Morris of New Order, Alex James of Blur and Jack Mitchell from Haven.

Really exciting music!! Finishing some mixes at the mo. What an experience this has been to work and write with these people.

Back to Rambo and Leroy though,-after our next few gigs we will be returning to the studio to concentrate on writing and recording some new songs we've had on the boil for a while.

We've just added another live video of us performing 'Rise' live on the 'Great Northern Music Show' aswell on our page so go check it out!

Rambo & Leroy supported NO at Wolves Civic Hall last year and I think they are mates with Phil Cunningham.

In fairness though, shirley this is basically just a Barney solo project?! With a teensy-weensy input from everyone else mentioned? Well, from Steve and Alex James, not so sure about rest?

'Band members so far are' ... surely just means they're little more than session musicions, no?

Anyways, nice to know New Order's last UK gig wasn't an entirely empty affair. From little acorns....?

Al, you might have inadvertently described how Barney sees his role in New Order. Which might also be a big part of the root cause of Hooky's disenchantment. Reading how Alex James describes working with the control freak but hugely talented Damon Albarn, how others contributions in Blur can be marginalised and how that made him feel I'd be surprised if he's jumped into a similar set-up.

I'm quite happy to listen to something with a huge Barney (and perhaps Steve) input, only perhaps mildly interested in something Alex James is involved in (what happened to Wigwam?) but really don't give a flying one about involvements from Marion, Haven or Rambo and Leroy. These lads aren't on the same page as New Order, nor even in the same library.

But then, maybe that's just me.

If it wasn't to start with, I guess there's a risk it is now....given that Steve and Phil are working with Barney. That could look like they've 'sided' with him. But as Hooky's set up his own project with Mani and Rourke I'm not sure what Phil and Steve were supposed to do.

Doubt you need to wish too hard. I'm sure that's how the heirarchy will work. Wouldn't be quite so dismissive of the others talents though. Even if its just that their ideas, enthusiasm and company serve to bring out something different from Barney.
