I think they should carry on.
Hooky is a great loss, but if he doesn't want to be part of the band anymore he shouldn't stand in Barney and Steve's desire to continue with a new bass player, if that's what they want.
The real question is are GNR still GNR without Axl...
He doesnt really give his opinion on the matter, which is unusual for McGee.
Good to see his praise for Get Ready though.
Quite interesting to read some of the comments,on Mcgee's piece,from a variety of casual and ex-New Order followers.
But the question begs,do New Order give a rat's tits what Mcgee says?

he doesn't even say anything on the future of the band, he just narrates the whole story of the band 
It's a well trodden cop out Jack - used by journalists many times - just say stuff that no one can really disagree with or take offence at. It's safe writing. Not that it's always a bad thing.

I think that New Order without Hooky shouldn't continue. New Order was a formula of 4 persons. Just the fact that Gillian left was a big change of the magic formula, even though Phil is making a great job. But if Hooky is not a part anymore they should continue under a new name.
I don't see what all the fuss is about really... Everyone knows that there will be no more New Order...
I can't remember who left the review about the Wolverhampton gig on the Ceremony forum but even then it seems that it was all over...
Last two albums were very poor anyway. I'm just not sure that "late-middle aged" men tend to make the best music/art... they're all too fat and comfortable with their lot!
i give my full backing and support to Hooky and whatever he does in the future. with new order or without. although i don't like attending DJ'd events.

I say NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN. It's happened before it'll happen again.Once Hooky's got FREEBASS out of his system,and Barney and Steve might draw inspiration from other musicians in BAD LIEUTENANT,maybe it'll all come together again.

oh well, whatever they all want to do, let them do it, I'll buy it and give it a chance. Looking forward to Barney/Steve/Phil thing and Freebass. What's the going record for the "side" projects anyway? Three Electronic albums, and two releases each for Revenge and Monaco. So maybe after they all release a couple of albums they'll once again find that they would rather work together again and put out two more albums, one with the left over Sirens Calls tracks and one of new material....
Oh well one can dream....

I really really want that guitar.I really really cannot think of anything more pointless than New Order continuing to record as New Order with just Barney, Steve and some hired hands.
It would be just as useful - and appropriate - as Radiohead without Thom Yorke, Echo and the Bunnymen without Will Sergeant, Oasis without Noel Gallagher, and even - arf - The Killers without Foghorn Creamhorn Flowers ferfooks sakes!!!!
The best thing New Order can do now - if they have indeed disbanded - is to STAY split up and stop defiling their otherwise fine legacy. The exclusive "Control" soundtrack stuff they did was all right considering how things turned out. If they MUST bring out any more material then get the seven or so unreleased NO tracks from the last album sessions issued in some form or other in the near future, and then leave it at that. I mean, Warners are probably ready for yet another compilation anyway - or a rerelease of either Blue Monday or True Faith.
