Green eye ... its disturbing to think that people have paid 30 quid to see an Oasis gig only to discover Liam couldn't be arsed turning up. NO can play one gig. with no laughs, and another without. If Bernard ruined the same song time and time again it would become annoying. Fortunately they never seem to play the same song, in the same way, twice in a row. It is this saving grace that I don't mind him being daft. Because I know that the song he's just whistled all over will not be the song he whistles all over next time, and if it is, then its fairly unlikely.
Its encouraging to know you still enjoy their gigs even if they go bonkers sometimes. That's all I was concerned about.

In relation to what the hell is going on here.
The only way forward I can see is to shut the site down for 8 years and then re-form it with a series of comeback emails.
We can then all go ga-ga over old threads that were written 15 years ago and all be friends again.
There might even be a film in it.

Mickey ... that couldn't happen. Within 5 years our eyes will have grown to proposterous sizes, our mouths will be slits and we will all pilot various space ships to get to work ... and its all down to the machines man. By just thinking about it I could e-mail (called z5t 3 in the future) anyone I wished with just one click of my own eyelid ... which I wouldn't really need because there would be plastic ones available from the shops.
Damn, I thought I'd found a solution to this impasse.
What if we brought all the original characters back as replicants and got Jude Law to play the lead.
Surely someone would be interested in the film version at least?

Apart from Maria who you've mentioned who else is likely to come back? Frode maybe? I agree largely with what Jarvo has said, I can't think of much that hasn't already been said whilst I was incapacitated. The way I see it this forum does have an international flavour but that was somewhat diffused when the forums split into seperate languages not the fault of anyone from Scotland (who incidentally you've been very inconsistent about about praising in one breath and slagging in another) If you had been in the 'Worlds End' you'd have been drinking along side people who had travelled from at least 3 continents to see New Order. This was mainly thanks to two of the exiled posters that everyone was there, who were the most instrumental in organising on-line gatherings. Of the posters who have been prominent and aren't so now Maria said she wasted too much time on, here went on holiday and it seems managed to kick the habit. Buster has given his reason's for not posting as often. If there was ever much of a presence from other non English speaking nations it's hardly surprising they never last if they are struggling with the language. As for slang postings and the like surely this is also adding to the flavour and if anyone dropping by is smart enough to dig 'the order' then it follows they should be able to get with Brit culture? I have read back to the start and as I recall it was like 1-2 messages a day. The vibrancy that has led to the sites popularity arrived roughly at the time of Get Ready and the subsequent 'Brit invasion' and now it seems you resent us being here.

but Sebs...isn't that the point of an open forum? the full exchange of ideas and stories??? I was, unfortunately, out of touch for the better part of two days, and missed the specifics...even though I sometimes have no idea what some of the fine folks on here were talking about, I usually enjoyed the stories and (sometimes) inane banter...
all I'm trying to get at is, that while it might be frustrating, we have to take the good with the bad, and as long as we can avoid direct and personal attacks, why can't we put up with the sometimes personal dialogues between fellow fans...
I do rather cherish most of the people on this board, and the face to face meeting with several of them last weekend just made it that much more personal to me...and now to see that several of them are gone, well, that rather saddens this wee citizen of the USA...

Well, it's a very mancunian attitude, isn't it? Just look at New Order playing live: they destroy their (& JD's) songs, which sounds so good on CD. They could be a fantastic live band, but Barney fucks up everything with his stupid way of dancing, whistling and whooping.
personally, i think that they are better live than recorded - especially the jd stuff. and the way berney dances is fun - you should try it.

Well, like I said, for 50% of the people (and probably 70% of those who were every day posters on this board until a few days ago), I am totally wrong on this. But from my point of view, I think I am right and the first reason for that was that the forum on my own website didn't even interest me anymore. I found myself only skipping messages and not even reading at some point, and Nicolas told me it was the same for him.
And I remember our good old friend April telling the same a few weeks/months back, and it's just obvious that several "non-Brit" posters got scared away because some of them were pretty active posters here before.
This is one of the reasons why we created message boards in other languages. But it happened that only the french board really worked, the german one worked for 2-3 weeks really, and that's it.
In an ideal world, I am looking for some sort of equilibrium. But that's very hard to reach.

However, it is sad to see the passing of Muffy, Liv, Grahame and Timbo (Is Sid still here? Seems to be) as I've shared some good times in person with each of them and know them all to be of Good Character and to only have the Order truly at heart. The next NewOrderOnline meet up (I'll still term it a 'NewOrderOnline' meet up) in Mancland should be an absolute cracker, and I for one can't wait.
We can go Round & Round like this in circles for weeks but hopefully Time will cure a few ills.

You know Al, I think you may be right -- I thought of the same thing yesterday so it's interesting that you came up with the same idea of this "Frankenstein monster" we've created. Maybe, after all, this forum is only a reflection of what the true New Order fanbase is in the end. Very Anglo-centered as you say. And maybe it should just live up this way.
On a more personal note, I'd just like to underscore the fact that it's difficult for me to be in a situation of conflict with people you hang around with so often while I only have respect and consideration for you. As a matter of fact, I think that if a webmaster should get elected, it should be YOU!

I don't think I would be listening to the music I've always listened in my life if I loathed the British people, and I don't think I would be drinking their beers so often, nor loving their sense of humour that much.
