What the hell is going on here?

Look...I see that some of us seem to have problems with the others on here, but all I can say if FUCKING STOP THIS SHIT!!!!

Dammit, we all faced extinction when Nic lost his job (unfortunately), but we came together as a family and saved our beloved site. So what the hell is going on now? This is the best site online to exchange our ideas and opinions about the greatest band ever, and I'm getting just a little tired of personal differences threatening to tear it all apart...

ladies and gentlemen, get over our petty differences, if you don't agree with each other, that's fine, but I'm getting just a wee bit disgusted with all the bickering...if you don't agree with what someone says, fucking ignore them...

I can only say that all of you kids are like a second family to me, and I don't want to lose any of you...but this is starting to get out of hand...

As Rodney King once said...can't we all just get along?

Well, this is what I'm trying to do... putting a big fat FIRE WALL on this forum :D

And I am deleting every post that is a personal attack to someone, if you wish to do so, do it in private please. (This applies to everyone).

Rodney King never said that mate - surely it was "Show me the money" :nonono: :evil4: Sorry guys - just trying to add some humour here;)

Yeah...it's really upsetting to see people destroying the thing they love most.....it just makes everyone feel bitter and vengeful. And that surely can't be a good thing for the majority of the non-confrontational peaceful folks here who just wish to talk music and stuff in the midst of all the crossfire, you know?

Not trying to cause any trouble here, but would it be possible to let the people back in who were booted out of the site if both parties are willing to do so. Then we can all just forget our differences and start new !! Be like old times again ...

Brendan,

"Be like old times again" would mean before this forum got littraly invaded by a group of 6-7 people, who incidentally are mostly Scots (is there a link there? mmuhahahaha), and whom have transformed this forum into their private club, writing personal stuff all the time, always writing in British (and Scottish) slang which even english-speaking Americans can't understand, filling the board with off-topic discussions daily, and discussing their last night at the pub.

Now, if I were them, I'd find such a forum to be a VERY cool place. But for a lot of outsiders, it kills the interest. It killed it for me, it killed it for Nicolas, and it killed it for several people who used to be posting here quite frequently BEFORE.

The last days outbursts was a very good occasion to put the "dots back on the i`s" (is that an english expression? whatever...).

So to answer your question: no, they're not welcomed back, at least not under the current site administration. I just hope that we didn't wait too long to make this move in order for the "older users" to come back to the site they used to visit.

Seb.

Post scriptum!

NewOrderOnline was intended to have an international vocation, and not just for residents of the U.K. ... Originally, we had people from all over the world writing on this board: Japan, Korea, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Sweden (remember Maria J ?), Russia, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, AUSTRALIA, etc.

Most of these people got scared away by the "Brit centered forum" this forum had become.

So let's put things back where they belong. That's my view on things.

I see your point Seb. I guess Im still relatively new to the site so I never experienced the 'before' side of things. To be honest, none of the off topic threads bugged me and I was happy with how things were going, but if it was annoying everyone else then I guess something had to be done.

I've been here for a while so am a tad lost as to what the 'before' side of things entailed, and who exactly left because of the British 'invasion'? The only regular poster I've seen disappear off the face of the earth was Huntsman, and we all know his reasons for quietening down. And, yes, his English was indeed hard to decipher at times, but that was little to do with slang, Huntsy appeared to have invented an entire language for himself. Much in the same way as the [ahem] 'poet' S.W.Ryder.

Having seen New Order in the States, Oz and most of mainland Europe this past year, I know from personal experience that for every Depthcharge and CTB Down Under, or for every Seb and Nic in Canada, or Pitch in Paris, there's a hundred or more genuine bodies in this small pocket of Northern Europe who seriously worship the Order. The band themselves, in the live environment at least, are incredibly Anglo-centric. That's just the nature of the beast. The forum is bound to follow suit.

I think it's simply a case of 'Frankenstein's Monster'. Whether Nic or Seb like it they have genuinely created a niche in New Order circles, a group of people who happily term themselves newOrderOnliners, and now know one another personally solely cos of a bit of ASP Nic slapped up on the net a year or so back. That's something that GodKnowsHowManyYears of alt.music.new-order or the Ceremony mailing list have spectacularly failed to equal. Even World In Motion, though populated by some of the same faces, has failed to achieve such a high profile. I take me AJ Baseball Cap off to Nic and Seb for that one alone. Good Work Fellas. Long may this site continue.

However, it is sad to see the passing of Muffy, Liv, Grahame and Timbo (Is Sid still here? Seems to be) as I've shared some good times in person with each of them and know them all to be of Good Character and to only have the Order truly at heart. The next NewOrderOnline meet up (I'll still term it a 'NewOrderOnline' meet up) in Mancland should be an absolute cracker, and I for one can't wait.

We can go Round & Round like this in circles for weeks but hopefully Time will cure a few ills.

The Forum Is Dead. Long Live The Forum!

[Subnote: I sincerely hope all the Americans can understand my Ingerlish. I try very hard please thank you ;) ]

Interesting to note Seb's comments above, a rather weak justification for the blatantly obvious jealousy that has been at the core of many of his outbursts. This forum (and indeed site) has been a tremendous achievement, largely uniting a diverse and varied populace who all had the same common denominator, a love of New Order. This latest xenophobic outburst by one of the webmasters is astounding in its attack on a few British people who interact both on and offline, and who were brought together by this forum.

I have never been able to understand jealousy of this nature. Is it because we get to see the band more often than you ? Is it because we get the records before you ? Is it because we can interact with people unlike you ? Or is it the fact that despite considerable efforts by both webmasters to make this a site to be proud of, it still lags behind the "rival" site in terms of recognition at the core of New Order ?

I still await an explanation as to why I was selected for banishment at the time I was, not that it will make any difference to any future involvement of mine on here. I am offended that one individual with moderator rights can cause so much ill-feeling with a few ill-considered actions.

If you don't want British people on your forum, fair enough. Never lose sight of the fact that the band themselves, the single motivating factor behind all this online community you created, are also British.

I had mostly enjoyed my time on here, but leave now with a bitter taste in my mouth. All YOUR failings exposed. So long, as they say in certain parts.

All seems a bit of an over reaction to me...making a big fuss out of nothing. And rather than just jump on the anti-Boisvert bandwagon - though why he has to set out to offend people is beyond me - Both parties seem to be to blame for me.

My own personal favourite era was when we had Buster, Huntman, Patrick and a few others all posting loads during the day. It's not been the same since the Huntsman left IMO.

Oh well, it's been a laugh, but the 'Stagsnet' footy Forum is of far more interest to me nowadays.

Well, it's a very mancunian attitude, isn't it? Just look at New Order playing live: they destroy their (& JD's) songs, which sounds so good on CD. They could be a fantastic live band, but Barney fucks up everything with his stupid way of dancing, whistling and whooping.

But surely BARNEY is serious about his art, just cos he does not conform to the norm...anyhow his dancing is special. What a great bunch they are.Don't take life too serious cos when shit happens your views could change big time. ROCKET SAMARITAN MICK

I think, personally, that is what makes the band unique. I'm not sure I would like to attend one of their gigs and hear the CD portrayed so accurately. Friends of mine who were not too fussed on New Order were very keen after seeing Barney perform his little turn on the catwalk. Also, not only does he whistle like a man possessed with the ability to encourage ten thousand sheep into a crowded room, he whistles directly into the mic. for optimum feedback ... superb.

It would be even better if Hooknose would join in and maybe Mr. Morris could perform back flips on his drumming units. It's a shame you worry about them geing slightly off-the-wall ... did you never see archive footage of Ian Curtis' dancing? ... a prophetic image of the future perhaps.

Of course I wouldn't like them to reproduce extacly what's on their CD's. A gig cannot be interesting without some creativity. Yet, it is possible to be creative (new versions of the songs, improvisation, etc.) without fucking everything up. What's the point in whooping during Atmosphere?

This being sayed, I like New Order in concert.

I can categorically state that I am not Rocket Ship - I couldn't be bothered switching between lower and upper case, it would play havoc with my finely manicured fingernails. Unless he is a fly I don't think we have ever appeared in the same room together. The flys gone now so that could have been him.

Green Eye - I used to think Ian Curtis' singing was awful, then I appreciated it for what it was (which I haven't quite worked out yet). Similarly, Bernard has a quite bizarre voice, the oft quoted 'little boy lost' really shouldn't swing his larynx around so many of the more rockier New Order songs should he? ... What I'm trying to say this that I feel sorry that Bernard's manic whistling and quirky dance moves spoil the gigs for you. They are a contradiction, and always have been. The are rock, but not, they are pop, but wait, no they are punk.

Whistling dixie during their single most deep and moving song comes as no surprise to me. The only non-surprising element is that Bernard doesn't stick the mic. to his backside and blow a beauty as an encore.

I do not wish to speak of the recent crisis. But I'm moved by Seb Briggs' words. Thanks Seb...

One comment though : I'm amazed of how many dramas we've alread had in here in less than a week. Very New Orderish, in some ways...

Huntsy, it doesn't spoil the gigs for me! I really have fun at their gigs. I know that New Order are contradictory, and I accept them and love them with all their contradictions. However, you have to admit that, in some way, they're doing a real mess of some of their most beautiful songs when they play them live.

Is it a punk attitude or a manc attitude? A few weeks ago, I was browsing through the channels on my telly and stopped for some minutes on the broadcasting of an Oasis gig (only for a few songs cos I don't like them). Well, this Gallaghster guy is ridiculous on stage :clown:. At least, the Barnster is funny :jump:!
