Primitive Notion, to me, should have been the 2nd single off that album. I like the others but Primitive Notion was greatness on a disc.
A fast punk version of "Slow Jam" with a B side of "Run Wild" sung by a childrens choir with a string orchestra
easy question... tough choices...
For a single (and definitely not my favorite among the list), I have to go with Vicious Streak.

Shows how far the decline was really that they even did 3 from an album. I still remember the proud old days when they point blank refused to put the single on the album, even though it was costing them sales.
Can you imagine Unknown Pleasures with Transmission on it though, or Closer with LWTUA and Atmosphere?

Doesn't seem quite right, somehow... Certainly not LWTUA or Atmosphere on Closer, despite the subject matter I've always found both these quite upbeat and 'warm', whereas Closer is either much harsher or down-tempo and much, much colder... Glacial, some might say...
I'd swap Transmission for Candidate on UP though...

I personally don't like singles off albums,unless remixed or whatever,but as much as I love Turn My Way,I'm not sure it's a good single,so I'd have gone for Primitive Notion.But thank fook we didn't get to '4 singles off an album'.......
I picked Vicious Streak--don't know if it would've made a great single, but it's one of the few songs on that album I enjoy. (not a big fan of N.O.'s output in the 2000s; I'd rather keep living in the past)

There isn't any single mix as far as I know and it's not on "Singles" :-p

Anyways... logical answer would be Primitive Notions, but Turn My Way would have been a wonderful 2nd North American single.
to tell the truth, i find it hard to make up my mind; i really love vicious streak, but primitive notion is slightly - but only slightly better to me.
None of them! "Once Upon A Time" JD and/or NO, wouldn't endlessly release songs from their albums as singles to fill the coffers of some bloody record label at the expense of their fans.
We've already heard/got the songs on the albums, why the hell do we need them on singles too? (And the same goes for the countless remixes of the same songs over and over!)

Ermm...isn't the point that the songs they used to release as singles didn't appear on the albums at all, thus requiring "TRUE FANS" to pony up money for both singles and the albums, instead of the latter-day ability to get both by simply buying the albums? Sounds like the old Factory days were more of a lucrative deal.
