"These Days" and "Incubation" are two of the best 14 songs? I've always thought that recorded version of "These Days" was one of the worst tracks, and "Incubation" is hardly the type of track you put on a singles/hits type of comp.
Another odd unfocused rather pointless JD/NO compilation... can't they guys appoint a caretaker or trustee to take care of the estate (the back catalogue)? Even Mark E. Smith can handle his back catalogue better...
Heart and Soul box set has already shown what you can fit on 2 CDs

I really like TD - and more importantly it works well as the final track on Substance, not only chronologically, but I think it also looks forward to NO, which is exactly what the end of a JD comp should do... Incubation... 
No Decades? No The Eternal? No Insight? (OK, that's on disc 2, but I'm still assuming from the tracklisting that's session versions)... Fcuking Warners...

I wonder how many copies approximately they expect to sell. The ultra-sick-hardcore collectors will get it only for the Peter Saville artwork or something? Does anyone here seriously think this release will reach the hearts (and pockets) of the mid-20s download generation?
At least SINGLES had a few tracks wich were previously unavailable in digital media. 
I don't think that this compilation will be a succesful one... In my opinion 'Heart and Soul' was the best one...

Probably won't happen knowing Amazon. And it's no one's loss. Permanent was a decent Best Of, and Heart and Soul is all you really need to know.

Dont know who they think they are targetting with this release... Surely Joy Division fans have everything done by the band by now and they are unlikely to be picking up new fans at this stage....
'95's Permanent is as good a JD compilation as anyone can ever need....
Ian should be rolling in his grave. For a band that only recorded 2 albums in their lifespan (and only 'officially' released 2 addendums in "Still" and "Substance"), this is officially Taking The Fucking Piss.
Sure, there's "Heart And Soul" that's a pretty good box set, albeit one that reproduces the 2 original albums. And there's "Permanent" - a pointless waste of time that I didn't buy : I only got the 12" for the Arthur Baker Remix of LWTUA - something that bafflingly isn't on CD.
And then there's the three expanded reissues from last year. And the two Fractured Music live albums. And teh Fractured Music limited box set with extra live record and T-Shirt that I didn't buy. This is worse than the Doors releasing every soundcheck as a limited-edition live album. And the unofficial Martin Hannet Mixes tape.
They really need a custodian who oversees the bands catalogue with care and attention. Why, for fucks sake, they haven't released an official DVD that compiles the Here Are The Young Men CHS, promo films and TV appearances I have NO FUCKING IDEA. People might actually buy that - instead, if I were a JD completist, I'd have the 3 rereleases of LWTUA, each album four times (Fac LP, Fac CD, Heart & Soul, Expanded Editions), a total of 6 concerts, and 3 'best of' compilations. And not ONE official DVD. Or one official, 'Complete' Radio Sessions CD.
FOR CHRIST SAKE, STOP THIS. It's devaluing and cheapening the work. Whoever is responsible for this merely sees the bands Body of Work as an asset to be cash-generating product that sits on the racks next to baked beans in Asda.
Next, they'll remix Ian's between song mumblings into an ambient album and package with it a bonus remix CD featuring a Paul Okenfold Mix of "Atmosphere", Thee Almighty Trouser Wankers 12" extended Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaance Mix of "Transmission", and the Extended Party Whoop version of "Decades" featuring Sly And Robbie.

Probably because Bernard has a problem regarding the poor quality of the material.

Absolutely "Best Of" indeed - whatever next "The many moods of Joy Division".
This is exactly the sort of crap that I dreaded when the catalogue was sold to London. I used to be proud to be a Joy Division fan with their small but perfectly formed back catalogue. Also - since when did the band start to be happy with photos of themselves on the sleeves?
I was happy to buy Heart & Soul because of the rarities. I bought "Permanent" but felt slightly cheated (but at least it had a decent sleeve, an enigmatic title and a remix). "Best of" is the first JD release I will definately not buy.
I will buy it beacause it has a nice sleeve photo. I always think of Joy Division when I pass under that bridge on my way to watch Man City. I agree that there are too many 'cash-ins', but thats the nature of the beast im afraid.

I mean they got all the main catalogue of Joy Division on the first two CDs of Heart + Soul, all the "best of" of Joy Division most people would ever need on two CDs
