I'm a newer fan of New Order, started round 1993 for me. I dont have too much knowledge about the band, but im in love with temptation. I would like to know wha others feel the best version of this track is. I personally enjoy the 1987 version, off Substance, and I also enjoy the '98 version.

They were in a stinking mood from getting stuck in traffic on their way there and several instruments breaking down on arrival.
87 on Record.
Live - any which have the last "fucking" time and 1,2,3,4 live.
It seems to have been almost definitively decided that there is no definitive version of Temptation... start with the original 12" from 82 thou.

That one is the best...
anyone who says otherwise gets it...
I'm not sure what it is, but I bet it's pretty fucking terrible!!!
Riverside 82. Also like the 81 version at NYC, at that stage the song was very much underdeveloped but it still rocks.
Yes, I have re-read and understand what you mean. It was as in
"That one is the best...
anyone who says otherwise gets bummed...
...... I bet getting bummed by me is pretty fucking terrible!!!"
Yes?

Original, and best.
The stall doors in the gent's shitters in work are finished in that exact pattern, I always seem to find myself whistling temptation while lightening my burden.
I actually like the original release, the one on Substance, and the 1998 release as well.
Obviously, the original one is fantastic, but I also like Barney's vocals on the 1998 release too.
The Substance version wasn't too bad---at least it wasn't murdered like the Substance version of 'Subculture'.
Original 12" best captures the feel of early live versions, but I'll always have a soft spot for the 87 version... Lots of good memoris associated with that...
The ultimate version is, of course, Re: Order's... ![]()
