This popped onto my iPod on the bus to work and it's the first time I've heard it in ages. It's fantastic: giddy, euphoric, supremely daft and all over the place.
The only thing that I can compare it to in terms of mood is "The Village".

Liar popped up on my iPod the other day.
For once in my life I didn't simply fast forward it. It's got some very nice bass about 3mins in.
Course, that's 3mins of shit you've gotta put up with first but they got there eventually.
Oh yeah, Weirdo is lush too.
I think that bass bit in Liar is precisely why I hate the song so much... Agreed it is very nice, but it just makes it more apparent how lightweight and throwaway the rest of the song is... The intro alone is enough to make me scrambled for the next button... Maybe I should give it another try? I have found that I like a lot of the tracks on Republic a lot more than I used to, but maybe that's just down to a lack of current NO activity...

Don't remind me. Liar is dire. Absolutely awful. I'd rather listen to Chemical and that's bad enuf. Weirdo is great! 
Always loved Weirdo ever since hearing it in '85 on a 'boot of the Hac' gig from July when I had it titled as 'Someone like you/me' I think.Great bassline
For all its criticicm, the bass on Brotherhood is actually reallyhigh up in the mix, much more so than on Technique.
Yeah the bass on weirdo is great, I could listen to that outro for hours.

I dunno, Weirdo always sounded like the whole song was like a toddler running forward trying to recover from falling... but you just knew was going to end in a dismal array of flying body parts.... but yet I can't look away, I have to watch in anticipation
