I was watching a DVD of chorlton and the wheelies last night (doing a bit of reminiscing) and remembered that there was a lot of trouble about cosgrove hall being called fascist as the witches spell book had a german accent and just to upset any jews even more instead of a five pointed star, it had a star of david, the reason given for this was that the artist that drew it wasn't very good at five pointed stars and didn't make the connection with the star of david, jews and german accents. then I remembered, Barney was an artist at cosgrove hall, like to come up with bit's of fascist imagery and often gave the excuse "I didn't make the connection between *insert band name, song title, record sleeve of choice* and nazis" could he be that barney was the 'not very good' artist?

No idea, though the program did run during the times he was involved with Cosgrove. But, according to Wikipedia he wasn't listed in the credits for Wheelies. Not that that means anything, really. So, who knows. But the whole thing is funny as shit.

I think the it was accepted that Barney was pretty good at graphic design. He may not have been credited because he had a low level job, but I think in the Nolan Bio Bernards old boss talks about what a good artist he was.

He's credited on jamie and the magic torch as bernard dicken which was his name at the time, but not credited on chorlton, justs seems quite a coincidence.
