Many people seem to completely misunderstand the lyrics to 'Crystal':
'Here comes love, it's like honey, You can't buy it with money...'
For all Barney's perceived lyrical failings, he doesn't say that you can't buy honey with money...
I'll phrase the lyric another way and maybe those who are confused will finally get the meaning:
'Love is like honey - it's so sweet, But you can't buy love with money'
If he'd phrased it that way though, it wouldn't rhyme or scan within the song.
You see, Barney isn't that dumb...
