The instrumental break in the middle of Vanishing Point, with it's lovely subtle break, gets me every time. I'm sure it inspired everything that Paul Oakenfold ever did. It's definitely in my top 15 NO songs (or top 18 if you're greedy).
I don't really like Someone Like You. The backing vocals irritate me for a start.
Vanishing Point - always been one of my fave NO tracks.
Someone Like You doesn't really do very much to me at all.

I thought that the sequenced parts were composed by Steve and Gillian for "Making Out", then it was turned into a New Order song.
The synth bass part sounds like it was composed by Steve with the music software "M".

I think you might be right. Certainly the second series of making out had the odd bit of music that appeared on The Other Twos first album and a re-recorded Vanishing Point for the play out.

oh so that's where that "making out" instrumental version of V.P. stems from, then? (pardon my ignorance but i'm not familiar w. said series) i really love that version, actually, maybe even better than the album version.

I went with Vanishing Point. SLY is a good song but VP is a great song. In my last message that was deleted I went into some detail how Vanishing Point, Mr. Disco and Dream Attack should have been the singles from Technique.
Vanishing Point has great lyrics and it's named after a cool cult film. Can't lose there.

That's happened to me a few times, I think it's due to taking so long before submitting the post, probably Nicks way of cutting out long winded rubbish comments.
I always select and copy the text if I think I might have taken too long, then I can just paste it back if it gets lost.

I think the four singles from technique should have been, in this order
Fine Time (it IS incredibly catchy and fun to dance to. It made me buy Technique).

Someone Like You had a lot of potential - especially as a 2nd single from Get Ready - but I'm convinced they lost it somewhere during the mixing period; it just sounds like a really drab track for some reason and the excessive backing vox always ruins it for me.
Big fan of the trancetastic James Holden Dub, in fact gonnae stick it on the iPod just now
As for VP... pure bliss and the clear winner here

You must be completely mad to even think about mentioning these two songs in the same breath.
