EDIT: the 'Bland' thing was a genuine typo, but now I come to think of it...

Gillian wrote most of the music for Dream Attack and also played the superb lead guitar on the song.
According to producer Stephen Hague, Gillian wrote all of the keyboard parts for True Faith. She sat in the back of the studio working them out while the others did thier parts. When it came to record Gillians parts, Hague was amazed at not only how well written her parts were, how much they added to the song, but also how quickly and efficiently Gillian could record them.
Listen to TF.....there are a lot of little changes in the synth parts on the verses that add to the songs dynamic, and the chorus parts are hard to play.
Gillian played a lot fantastic ryhthm and lead guitar parts on Everyone Everywhere.
Gillian and Steve wrote the majority of World in Motion.
Gillian wrote her parts for Confusion, TPK, TLU and many other songs.
Of course Barney is the songwriting genuis of the band. and yes he and Steve do the lions share of the programming...and Hooky contributes the beautiful bass lines...
But Gillian added and played a lot of really simple yet gorgeous keyboard lines and melodies to those songs.
A lot of that has been missing since Gillian left. She was not just Steve's girlfriend to be bossed around and told what to play by Barney and Steve. She was an important part of the bands musical chemistry. Its blatant when you listen to New Order records made with her and without her.
And no, she was no virtuoso on on keyboards or guitar, but she could play well enough to write some pretty cool melodies and parts that added to what make New Order awesome, and frankly I think its a bit sexist to dismiss her as "Steve's dumb untalented girlfriend" when its blatantly apparent that she added to what New Order was.

well I'm not going to be the first or last to say that live keyboards died with the loss of Gillian. Hell, I got excited by the idea of beefier guitars, but for anyone who caught them live in the 80's and early 90's will agree that the spontaneity, unpredictability, and regular keyboard fuck ups/extended onstage remixes etc, were a big attraction. Not forgetting those mournful keyboard accompaniments she added to the records too.
I look at those comeback gigs in the late nineties, and the gigs that followed from 2001 and, well, its a shame.
The official line was "becoming more professional" when they decided to use backing tracks rather than live keys. 
There's no real need for backing tapes when the software's really fucking reliable these days.
Plus, it limits the variety of the setlist each night. Lazy cunts
