I think it's a Yamaha BB800, also seen at Rochdale and at Rotterdam. That was the replacement bass bought when the gear went.

Marvellous! That confirms Procession as having been played pre-Gillian. Gotta love Steve here indeed. 
Too bad about Homage not being in this set as it would've been nice to find out what at least some of the words are. Nevertheless, this needs to come out on DVD asap!
That's pretty wild stuff (even if performance-wise it's ROUGH)! Cool to see Steve on vocals. Would love to see this released in its entirety some day.
Discussions with filmmaker Merrill are underway between the powers that be and her, with eye towards some future release of this material.
So I would kindly ask that forum members refrain from contacting her about the footage, it's a rather delicate situation that is still proceeding forward with baby steps.
It's because I asked her what the setlist is that we have this medley - she didn't know the song titles, so she put up the medley for me to identify the tracks - which I did for her. And now here we are...

Interesting that they had just spent the preceding week recording the classic first version of Ceremony at the E.A.R.S. Studio in NJ with Bernard singing it throughout, yet live they're still using Steve for the verses and Hooky on the choruses. Maybe the multitrack has each of them trying it out?

Presumably because Bernard couldn't play and sing at the same time well enough to pull it off live?

See that extra disc on the Glasgow DVD with the old footage? I thought it was shite. Skimmed through it. Like watching the visual equivalent of a crap live audio bootleg (is there any other kind of live bootleg?).
This on the other hand is quite exciting. Especially seeing Morris singing really badly. And the production seems pretty good too.

Merrill herself took it down. It was really intended just to be up temporarily, I don't think she counted on the tenacity of NOOLers in ferreting it out ;)
As I said, it's a delicate situation with her and the powers that be, so please don't contact her asking to put it up again. She's in contact with those she needs to be in contact with, to make anything happen down the road.

Yes, that DVD was rushed out without the participation of the filmmaker who was contacted at the last minute by error, thinking she was a fan who might have a photo for the package art. That was how she found her archive and was able to then have it remastered before it all tumbled into dust. She is now putting up samples on her website to identify the footage and find back collaborators for new releases with the bands.

glastonbury fayre rocks. how any new order fan cannot dig that show, for years one of the best audio boots, and now finally available thru video, is beyond me.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but you had it right the first time Eric - now that I've seen the Hurrah's video, he's definitely playing a Precision, the Fender headstock is visible and the pickup is in the normal (non-reverse) configuration. There's no pickguard either. They were using borrowed equipment that day, the BB800 came a bit later.

The headstock sure looked like a Fender P-bass. Good catch on the pickguard.
One reason why I'm not sure if they are using borrowed equipment is Bernard's ES-335-TD. You don't just borrow one of those... not like the one he's playing. Also, if the one that he's playing is the same one that he plays often in the early to mid-1980s, he made one aesthetic change: he changed his plastic pickup frames from stock black to white/cream.
By the way, here's a picture of my 1974 Gibson ES-335TD. I searched for a long while to get one just like Bernard's.

You could be right about the Precision (in the video), though I can see a pickguard. It has a maple neck too, unlike (I think) the BB800.

I think he had two of them. They used the replacement gear throughout 1980, also visible at Rochdale and Rotterdam...
Then when they got the gear back, they used that again from 1981 onwards.
The bass in the picture is definately a Yamaha.
You can actually see the Yamaha logo, including the round circle. Basically, most of the Japanese companies around then were making copies of Gibson and Fender gear... I believe that could be a Yamaha Pulsar 400 which was their knockoff/clone of the Fender PBass.
Now that's the sort of thing I didn't expect to see light of day - thrilling!
