Does anyone know if this live show was ever sold to the public??

On her website, the videographer says that she has the full show. I've sent her an email inquiry to see if it is or will be on sale at some time. Will report back if I hear anything.

Well Bernard's jumper matches up with stills we've seen from this show, so it looks pretty kosher to me. Hope the full show does exist and becomes available!

update:

Received this email back today.

Hi David,

I am currently talking with the group to develop a project with this footage. I do hope something works out and I can release much of it on a DVD sometime in the near future. The performance is very special, their U.S. debut, and I was very excited to have the original tape digitally re-mastered recently. Please write me from time to time to inquire about my progress if you are interested.

Yours truly, Merrill Aldighieri

The footage does seem legit. She was apparently the VJ at the Hurrah and has footage of a number of other bands, including Bauhaus, Magazine, Gang of Four, the Mekons, et al. This is her website: http://artclips.free.fr/videojockey_memoirs.htm

& DNE played on a 4-string,this must've been not long after the gear got nicked,or had it not moved onto 6-string yet?

they did Maxwell's and then the gear went AWOL for the rest of the US tour.

Great find!

She's sitting on a gold mine there! Better than the sh*t on the Glasgow Bonus Disc.

Gang of Four is well worth checking out. Brings back memories of the OGWT.

So she is actually having contact with the band about this footage. Great to hear they still are a group and willing to talk about releasing this or not:)

Maybe she can ask them to let us know soon what their plans are so we can move on as well...i mean it's been for more than over a year now since Hooky said he left and still it's all quiet on the western front:\ohwell:

Just wanted to add that I think this footage is really cool too. I remember seeing the photo of their first U.S. gig post-Joy Division, and it's amazing to see a live shot of the same. An important moment in history.

Tim, that sounds good. So it's the remasters in September with extras, the Sirens cast-offs as a new ep, more live dvd's, a reunion mini-tour by Xmas and a new LP in 2010 then?

Bloody hell! I never thought this would turn up - not only do we get a unique view of NO as 3 piece but, if the setlists of the surrounding shows are anything to go by, we're likely to also see Steve singing, IALP played with a drum machine (possibly even Procession too if the Hoboken snippet is true), Homage played live and Cries & Whispers and Mesh sung by a combination of vocalists!

We need this to be released in some form.

Also, great to see Hooky playing a Fender P-Bass. Didn't know that was part of his gear.

cheers for the link :thumb: I've never seen such clear footage of Gang of Four before. Would be great to see the whole Mekons/GoF recording.

Oh, and the New Order one as well of course

I think it's a Yamaha BB800, also seen at Rochdale and at Rotterdam. That was the replacement bass bought when the gear went.

Yes indeed, though I would also love to see footage of the Lyres from this period as well!
