Close Range

Just a quick question really.

I've been a NO fan for 20+ years and know all their stuff backwards. I like all the classics and read this board regularly. I have more NO stuff than I know what to do with and generally agree with most of what opinions are expressed on here.

However....

...how comes no-one likes Close Range? I think it's brilliant but it's just never mentioned. I know Get Ready wasn't the best received album ever (and apart from Crystal I don't listen to it much) but this track never even gets a kicking off you lot.

Hooky bass lines are pure class at the end.

I love it too. And the proto-version from the Get Ready advance is even better!

Never got on with it at all. I rate Get Ready quite highly, but see this an one of the weakest tracks. It was poop live too, the three or so times i heard it.

I think it's pretty good. Certainly a part of the better half of the rather two-faced Get Ready album.

ive always loved this track, but the problem with the song is it's also easily forgotten. You can honestly say apart from Crystal, and Here to Stay the Get Ready album, or era is just a blur. If Close Range would replace maybe 60 mph as a single, it would've done quite well. Hooky is class at the end, and hell Barney even sings pretty well on it.

it's one of the better ones on the album but something about it just doesn't have a lot of staying power.

Good song,good chorus,great bass solo at the end,but seems to be better live,& good version of it from the Peel session

Yeah - the Peel session one is completely different and I like it a lot.

I've been after the advance one for a while but can't find it anywhere. Anyone know if it's avaiable on-line anywhere?

The advance version has a completely different arrangement, and it's very similar to the live and Peel Session versions. If you want it, send me a PM!

I like that song; it's the only one on the second half of Get Ready that I like.

I love this track it was great to see it on the fins. DVD

Barney loved it, he thought it was the great live rocker that would please the fans, and to be fair it wasn't bad live, but the Get Ready version isn't as good as the demo I don't think.

You should thank Old Blue, he was the one who sent me the thing eons ago, along with the rest of the advance version of Get Ready! It's only a CD-R, but it is one of my most prized belongings...
