I have 'vidoe 586' on CD single and 12". On the 12" is an instrumental Bowie/Eno sounding track which, according to the NO discography is Joy Division's 'As You Said'. I have never read about this track, or seen it mentioned in any discographies for Joy Division. Any ideas what this recording is, and where it came from?

This track was recorded during "Closer" recording sessions at Britannia Row Studios, London, March 18-30, 1980 and it was produced by Martin Hannett as usual. This song can be found at "Substance" CD and "Heart & Soul" box set as well.

Further to Ricardo's answer, As You Said was originally released on the free Komakino flexi (fac 28) and is on the B-side after Incubation. It's not credited on the label. I have also heard it referred to as "And Then Again"

I'm not sure that is the case, Marco. Have you never heard As You Said? I could try and send you an MP3.

Even for breakfast, apparently. As was alleged to us in Germany for the Order last weekend. And we all have lots of tattoos. Although someone reckoned I was actually Scottish (Shug, please note) as I had 'tartan' shorts on and Jocks always wear tartan. Said shorts were actually Aquascutum.

fac 28 is flexi

there are no words to the song

definate hannett production

newOrder I think have egg mc Muffins dont they? but in reality, its a private affair what they have. The band members probably think that the people here are insane because , who really cares what they have for breakfast, as long as they dont get fatter. Stephen, I think is still the thinnest.I remember seeing newOrder in NYC on 7/7/83 at the Paradise Garage and remembering how skinny he was Oh well, oh well.

ps. I am still pissed that they blew off the northeast United States on their tour. Those Europeans cannot possible make them as much money as us Americans can
