Fug it.

If London/Warners isn't going to listen then I'll tackle this project myself. A good friend who is an audio restoration master and fellow New Order fan is going to team up with me to compile our own 2xCD remasters.

I've avoided the 7" edits since they can mostly be found on the Singles compilation. I've also skipped many redundant remixes that don't really add anything new.

My versions will not be compressed to hell, sacrificing dynamics for loudness.

I'll also be tackling Republic and Get Ready, the latter of which I'm going to completely overhaul, resequencing the album and bringing it closer to the advance promos the record label sent out.

I'd even pay for your versions, seriously mate, this is way better.

Once they're finished I'll see what can be done to distribute them.

I'm still buying the official remasters for the artwork and liner notes, but I may as well toss the discs because I'll never listen to them over my own versions.

I believe in the value of as well, but I'm thinking of that as an entirely separate project. The goal here is to tidy up the band's official recorded output.

I'd like to see a New Order "live" box like Bjork did, with a full CD of performances to correspond with each of New Order's albums. With the wealth of resources available through this list it could easily be achieved as a group effort.

i still think you should max out each disc to 80 minutes though, no point in leaving wasted space.

He has a point, if you do find a way to distribute them i'd love to own them. I too will purchase the remasters, for novelty I suppose, and because im missing lowlife and brotherhood. But seriously this is the best news i've heard on this forum for quite some time.

May i suggest to add Fine Line, messed around mix, Touched by the hand of dub, the 12" of TBTHOG, and also the full 12 from tempation, world in lotion (mark bell remix), confusion dub 87, Round and round (detroit remixes)

If you don't have enough space on CD, a bonus with some spare tracks could be worthy.

i'll be happy to contribue. if needed, PM me.

but i think a bonus remixes cd would be cool. And 94/95 mixes for the most wild of us.

I think a master in NO discography like -1 could easily tell what's missing as remixes or alternate (minus 7" tracks)

Awesome, exactly what the reissues should have been - except that I'd probably rather see the original albums left 'as is', ie no extra tracks. Save them for disc 2 IMO. I'm loads more excited about this!

That leaves entirely too much wasted space. Movement is only about 35 minutes in length!

The 10-second spacer is in there after each proper album to draw a line. It'd take that much time for a CD changer to switch over, and honestly, most people don't listen to a traditional CD from start to finish anymore. I fully expect these to be cherry-picked for favorites and thrown into MP3 playlists.

Those have appeared on CD. Granted, they'd be hard to get ahold of, but with three remixes of each of those in the sets already, it's just overkill.

I won't be listening to many of the 2nd discs from start to finish - they're meant as more of an archive, and not a listening experience.

I may add another song here and there, but I tried to strike a balance between things that have never been on CD before and making them listenable. The remixes I've left off are, frankly, boring.

i wasn't actually trying to change your mind, since this is your project... just giving some thoughts...

there are plenty of 7" Notable edits, and mixes that you could use, that would be great to hear,

i mentioned that i worked on a project in 2003, and we remastered pretty much every 7" edit out there, however consider these tracks/mixes:

that's why i meant a bonus CD for the hardcore ones, with the left off remixes or edit. but your idea in the first places is brilliant

Just a small question, if they were made into torrents would they be flac files?

I'm definitely interested as well! I want to make one suggestion though. Either eliminate the 10 seconds of silence or put it on its own track. A track that continues 10 seconds after the song ends is kind of annoying, especially if you want to use it on a mix CD.
