Every cloud has a silver lining...

These crummy remasters should at least ensure that the value on eBay of my 1981-82 CD EP should increase nicely. Decent New Order CD masterings rarer than hens teeth - and better than stocks and shares (at least at the moment!!).

And if anybody wants a copy of "The Happy One", they could do no worse than ask me nicely for a surplus copy of the VHS for "Substance 1989". When Digital TV and DVD have long become obsolete, the money is on rediscovering the simple [unknown? you decide!] pleasures of good old Videotape together with the wonderful effect that wow and flutter brings with it! Yowzah!!!

You know you might be on to something there!

I still own Betamax versions of "Here are the young men" and "Taras Schevchenko". The cachet of the Betamax version must surely mean they will be worth a fortune.

Well, it's true what they say about technology being more disposable the more advanced it gets!

Look at digital tv (or, more exactly "digi-gi-gital TV" if the Beeb's broadcasts are anything to go by) for instance. Just what are we paying for in the name of progress? For some supposedly crystal-clear and superior quality pictures that are then at the mercy of ever-changing atmospheric conditions - unlike analogue which was never affected by such trivialities? Accept it, we are being well and truly conned by the relentless steamroller of multi-media technology. Bluetooth? Blue Ray? Nein Danke! I'll stick to being Longtooth and UV Ray if that's all right with you! ;)

Technology eh? Fuck it - better to remain a complete traditionalist Luddite myself. Will have to start digging out those 8-track cartridges at the next car booty I'll be heading for.....

As a matter of fact I have a great idea for my next art class briefing. I might get all my students to design their own 21st century Wax Cylinder album cover of their own choice! Imagine it eh? Oasis, New Order, Metallica and The Killers rubbing shoulders with the likes of Kate Nash, Adele, Pussycat Dolls and that fat whingeing fuck from Bullet For My Valentine.

if new order really are gone.. (which is what it looks like)

just wait another few years for the re-remasters to come out..

ultravox is doing it, big country did it, tears for fears did it. talk talk, abc, human league, etc etc etc

it'd be nice to see new order get back together and do nothing but joy division songs just to piss people off. now that would be something....

they could find some young 20 year old who looks and sounds like Ian, and have him front them, and even change their name back to Joy Division, and do a world tour.....

on Decades, they could have a big projection screen with an image of a noose....

all the emo and goth kids would love it.

EPIC WIN!
