Yes, I know too little, too late, and if they'd listened 1st time around, we wouldn't be having this fucking discussion, but can we coordinate some kind of official response to the total abortions that Warners have produced?

Nothing will get done, but sometimes, you just have to make your point.

This stuff matters, and means a great deal to all of us, but maybe Warners missed that particular memo.

Well, let's give them another one. Via the moderators, and carefully worded that makes clear our discontent.

I was going to buy all of these (hear that Warners?), now, even if they were £5 I wouldn't bother.

The best way to petition Warners is thus:

Send them huge fuck-off letterbombs in the post.

That should sort the fuckers out - wipe those useless c***wipes off the face of Planet Earth.

Just think - that way - no more shite New Order releases once and for all!

We could form our own worldwide massed designers' republic to curate all future band-related product.

I think vanishing point skipping on that broadcast was a big enough "oh shit" moment for warners.

give it up everybody. Move on.

Its over, its dead, the corpse is buried, rotting and being eaten by maggots.

Until the inevitable ressurection in a few years.

as long as people are aware of what they're getting..

movement+bonus is not that bad, but the rest of the bonus discs have problems..

keep spreading the news..

write negative reviews..

already most of the average ratings for them are getting low marks on the amazon sites..

hopefully this will prevent more people from getting them...

I was definitely considering getting these, as I enjoyed the Joy Division reissues this past year.

After reading about all the mistakes, I am extremely disappointed.

I am also disappointed in Hook, who said they were amazing quality and all that.

I have to say, this is a perfect way to get everyone completely disinterested in the band, right as they have broke up this past year. Excellent timing!

You'd think they'd want to put out a top quality product to end with, to accentuate their awesome legacy.... You'd think they'd want us hardcore fans to stick with them as they head off into retirement years and need cash for dentures and health care....

And, if, as they have said all these years, it is really all about the music, then how did they sign off on this total shit?

Pathetic.

hell.. count me in as one who was also going to buy the New Order remasters but after such a huge amount of negative feedback on these boards, I'm afraid to!!!

I'm pretty bummed about it, as one of my favorite albums is Technique and it's a very well loved and used copy. I'd love to spend a bit to get all of them brand spanking new but not at this point.

I was so looking forward to buying all 5 CD's even though I already own the orignals. After all that I have heard I won't bothher.

Extremely disappointed I was.

I was also looking forward for these discs when I read about it in the early summer, anyway, I made up my mind in an earlier stage. Lately, I got disgusted by the positive 5-star reviews on some sites. Amazon has a few, but most of them are well trimmed down to 1 (If you ask me, it's what the CD's deserve!). You don't have to be a die hard New Order-fan to recognize these audio-mistakes; how can anyone who's a music lover talk positively about these Collectors Editions?!?!?! Propostrous. It just totally skips me.

Emailing the record companies for such a lack of quality control won't work I'm afraid, but hey, what the heck: I didn't buy them, but I WILL send a few emails... We don't have to wait until the U.S. release to declare war on those London/Rhino COWARDS. I assume that one is totally fucked up also (...) or is it?! ?! ?! (...)

To be continued on October 13th for the answer.

Guess I'll be boycotting them, such a shame too, I was really looking forward to them. Maybe I will just get Movement though.

Yes, you can petition Warners, but since most people on this thread appear not to have bought the albums on the basis of other obsessives' reviews, I don't expect Warners will take much notice.

Having got PCL and Low-life, and assured that Movement is finally in the post, I really don't see what the problem is for most people. Yes, the sound quality is very occasionally less than perfect, but other than that, the complaints seem to be about track listings, which is a personal preference, or the physical quality of the packaging, which to my mind is secondary to the music (and as I said in another thread, remember this is Rhino, not Factory). Other than that, the consensus amongst those who have bought them seems to be that the remastering of the original albums is at least as good as the cynics expected.

My advice, for what it's worth, is to buy Low-life for the full version of The Perfect Kiss and Elegia, and buy PCL jsut because it's PCL.

I was one who was excited at the prospect of the remasters but decided not to buy them. Even though they didn't take care of the fans with the bonus discs, remastered New Order albums would have been enough to close the deal for me. Having found out that the new issues are of lesser quality than my US Quest CDs and import singles, for the first time I've decided to pass on New Order reissues. I just can't handle the lack of concern by anybody associated with the band any more.

I'll be happy to sign a petition, and buy a New Order product, but only if they release something worthy of the dollars that other bands are working much harder for than New Order.

c'mon... are they THAT bad? Are the actually albums worse than previous CD releases? Sure, the 2nd CDs are kinda half-arsed ...some people already have all the tracks anyway, but some people will enjoy them. The re-issues are a good concept if rather sloppy executed on the 2nd disc. Hopefully they show a decent amount of respect to Saville's factory art design.

If Warner gave a shit don't you think they would have tried harder? They have a new edition to put in the stacks, maybe it will catch some eyes. Hell, Warner probably think you spotty bastards don't even deserve this much. You should kiss their arse and ask for more, is prolly their attitude.

If the band really cared much they would at least somebody would be appointed as a caretaker for their history or at least in terms of getting money off their catalogue to offer a legit alternative to mp3s... well, whatever.

sorry, but digital glitches in CDs aren't acceptable in 2008.

Technique's bonus disc seems to be the worst, and I disagree with the thought that these bonus disc tracks sound like they're mastered from vinyl.

There's a clear distinction between a vinyl click or pop and a digital glitch that happens when you rip audio from a scratched CD. to my ears, it sounds like the latter.

Anyway, recall and replacement of poorly mastered CDs/DVD/Blu-ray discs aren't unheard of. The Fifth Element was recently remastered due to complaints of a shitty transfer.

Do we have anyone with Press connections? What would really set a fire under Warner's arse is a good article in The Times or Daily Telegraph 'bout how insulting this product is.

The bigger a record company is, the more lack of quality control if you ask me.

The first surprise of 'loudness' I got with EMI's Raise The Pressure (Electronic's 2nd) from 1996.

I heard the Warners remasters of Madonna's first 2 albums a couple of years ago and although there aren't pops, glitches or volume drop-outs: the mastering process was MUCH TO LOUD. It was made for MP3-players.

Look at the Depeche Mode remasters, they're far better with beautiful (sometimes restored) artwork in those Collectors Editions. And those are still from Mute.

All this energy going to waste on this artificial ire.

These reissues are simply a way of repackaging existing product. As far as I have seen, Warners have made no promises about the quality or provinence of these tracks, just put it out there to see who's buying. They are not some micro-brewer style label, putting stuff out for the sake of the kids; they're a massive money-making organisation trying to make a buck in increasingly challenging circumstances with no care at all for anyone else. They don't pretend to be anything else, so why pretend to be surprised?

Why not write to someone who might give a fuck about something that matters?

I suppose the key issue for me here is that Warners know there are a lot of unhappy people before they repeat the same mistakes when releasing future New Order product (if there is going to be any).

I am thinking here mainly about the mythical WFTSC bonus track release. How can they mess this up I hear you say? Well WFTSC on CD sounded terrible due to the too hot mastering. I really don't listen to this CD much anymore (the sound quality just gives me a headache). It would be nice if Warners could take things like this into account when releasing the bonus tracks.

The sound is indeed compressed to a point that makes this album almost unlistenable. I'm wondering if it was intended to sound like this (artisitic choice) or if it was just an inapt engineer's work. (BTW, the same question applies to Depeche Mode's latest album which was released the same year and is also overly compressed, although I find it much more listenable than WFTSC).

If your letter said "I bought your cd and I wasn't happy, they'd read the first four words and give themselves a little pat on the back.

They. Don't. Give. A. Fuck.

Try not to give a fuck about them and everything will be alright.

The wording of the petition needs to be carefully considered.

Though obviously you should avoid mentioning that you haven't bought or even listened to them.

That would make you look stupid.

Yeah, because why would people bitch about crappy, glitchy New Order music releases on a New Order forum?

We should just keep our opinions to ourselves, as these forums are for discussing Sumner's confederate flag and ian curtis' tombstone....

Fucking yawn.

Fact is there's an arrogant expectation that we'd be expected to fork out for this fucking shit.

Fact is the remasters are fucking shit.

And that's fucking shit.

You hopeless bell-end. Do what an awful lot of other people (including me) who frequent this site are doing and reject said "arrogant expectation" and simply don't fucking buy them.

That doesn't matter, as we have been provided with some graphs that clearly show that we don't need to listen to them.

For the petition to work we should send some graphs to Warners.
