Barney and Steve discuss Fashion with Paul Morley

Did anyone else see the Paul Morley documentary "All the Young Dudes" last night on BBC4 ?

This was a surprisingly entertaining watch with an extended piece on Joy Division including an interview with Barney and Steve. Steve said that he chose his shirt for the LWTUA video because his mother told him to wear it (probably tongue in cheek). Meanwhile Barney said that Joy Division nicked a lot of their style ideas from Kraftwerk. Although I seem to remember in the recent Rob Gretton notebooks that Rob first came up with the idea of Joy Division dressing smart.

jUST watched it and thought it was really good.Interesting to hear PHIL out of the HUMAN LEAGUE.Ste is on top form and great use of JOY DIV records to the landscape backdrop.Here are the YOUNGMEN with weight on their SHOULDERS.....

We watched it, good programme. Lucy reckons Barney's had the eye bags done.

Was a very good interesting watch,tho' I must admit to being a bit stumped beforehand as to what JD knew about fashion,they didn't give a fook & it was indeed Rob who pushed some fashion sense onto them.Barney was bang on tho',the way they dressed represented Manchester/Salford/Stockport at the time....depressing & grey as fook........Couldn't help thinking what a fookin' weirdo Ian Anderson was in the '70's

m8 you only had to go to RAYS place and Edgley park to see what represented stockport at the time.

or you could always ask liams mum.

M8,I DO know what Stockport looked like at the time,that's why I said Salford & Manc too,just so I didn't piss anybody from Stockport off It was the pits man,no wonder the motorway fookin' ended there,it was the end of the world

The BBC have released a new version of their video player that should work. I haven't tried it myself yet.
