If we can read these names, maybe we can ask Rhino about what they did/do in the first place to 'repair' these discs audiowise.

There's not a whole lot of point as different people have been involved since.

Hopefully someone will put the record straight as to the process involved in getting these second versions together etc, otherwise I expect everyone will go on about it endlessly on here.

Adam Tate wrote: So let me get this straight - if you never bought the Remasters in the first place (because of the well documented faults) and you now wish to buy the new versions you have to purchase them on Amazon (or the like) and hope that they send the right versions???!!! When you find it's the wrong version you have no proof on the packaging to tell Amazon that it's the wrong version. You might have to email them and say "can you hear the vinyl surface noise on track 6 etc".

I suppose I might have to actually go to a record shop and demand a listen (anyone know of any still open record shops in the UK??). What a palaver - how difficult would it be to put a sticker on the front saying "Ver.2" etc ?

They are really not encouraging me to part with money on these releases. Of course if a torrent title read "Lossless new version remaster" - then at least you would know what you were getting and I guess more people would be tempted by that as an easy option.

Well, amazon no longer lists it as in stock. So hopefully when they get it back in stock it will be the new re-remastered version.

Rhino's original email :-

"Thank you for your email. I have recently been informed that the replacement New Order discs will become available in late April/early May. I will contact you at that time with information on receiving a replacement disc."

...anyone heard anything about this yet?

So ... again Power, Corruption & Lies will have Blue Monday & The Beach on the first disc. Just like the previous US single CD release of this album?!

Looks like a website error to me.

That's two weeks after the alleged release of the remastered My Bloody Valentine albums, which have been delayed for about a year.

I sense a record company delaying tactic.

I can believe it. Tough economic times, but I'd be damned if I ain't buying both the remastered Technique for "Love Less" and MBV's "Loveless". Waited long enough for 'em.

Movement and Brotherhood are on Amazon UK with a release date of 15 Jun 2009. There is no mention if these are fixed versions or what. Honestly i'm losing interest in this debarcle if they can't even be bothered updating us on the situation on the front page here they can shove them up there arses.

Of course they are the fixed versions, the originals were not re-pressed and never will be.

I'm not too sure they will publicize this episode too much, you don't really want to advertise your mistakes do you?

I just hope there will be a clear way to distinguish them when ordering from webshops, buying in stores, etc...I really really want to buy the damn things, but I'm definitely not going to risk getting the old ones...

Hopefully a new UPC code?

Let's pray they have restored the artwork mistakes too. Lately, I saw the original Brotherhood cover (Titaanzink) on the Rhino site, so, that's 1 of the 300 mistakes cleared.

Ofcourse we don't want to see '1983' on the spine of the 'Lowlife' Collectors Edition. :nono:

Looking forward to it ... :thumb:

This landed in my inbox a few minutes ago. Time to fire up the digital camera.

======================================================= Thank you for your email and your patience. The replacement New Order discs are scheduled to become available on 8/25/09. Also at that time, the 5 albums will be re-released to retail outlets, with upgraded audio.

If you would like to receive corrected replacement discs, please reply to this email with your name, shipping address, a list of the discs that you need replaced and a digital photo of your discs. We will send out your replacements as soon as possible.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding in this matter.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Got this same email as well, but what about the new packing? if there is such a thing.

Hope their somewhat decent. Wasn't James Nice put in charge of these??

If so they should be very good.

..if you just have to photo your discs - what is to stop someone (who has not got the discs) creating fake versions to photo and then applying for replacements? ...or is it me?

..or even easier just get a set of photos of your mates set of discs !

  • this seems like yet another sorry episode in the ongoing comedy of errors that is the New Order Remasters saga.

Personally I'm glad they are not requiring mail in of the discs, given the added expense and potential for the discs to be lost in the mail.

Hopefully the theft/fraud will be minimal.

Are Rhino e-mails about sending in photos to get replacements coming from Rhino UK or Rhino US? Just asking since I purposely bought the UK editions and not the US ones.

Thanks, Mike

I had contacted Rhino US ("Dr Rhino") back when the issues surfaced and that's who my email came from.

Dr. Rhino answer the question above for me:

The news reissues are the ones with the corrected audio.

http://www.rhino.com/store/ArtistCatalog.lasso?Artist=New%20Order

Please note: Our production department has recently reminded me that, in accordance with our initial statement, only the bonus discs of each New Order reissue have been corrected. The exception to this is disc one of Technique.

So, what I want to know is if the first disc of each release was faulty too..

Oh dear.

Technique seemed fine. It was Low Life that had the drop-out on Sunrise...

OK, it looks like the re-remasters are out now in Japan. Has anyone bitten the bullet on these yet that can report back? Is our long national nightmare finally over?

The given song titles are correct according to the audio and that site. Now that's what I call True Faith.
