There's a new booklet in with the fixed versions, don't know if you can tell from the outside though.

Tracks on the second discs are all the same, all resourced from original tapes, mastered, and properly named this time.

So, now that these discs are out has anyone actually received their replacement discs from Rhino?

The last email I got from Rhino was on July 7, after I sent them the photos they requested.

It would appear so, looking at the scans above...

The Tall Paul Dub of True Faith is still on there.

What I want to know is if the barcode (label catalogue numbers) of the re-remasters differ from the one of last year's shite ... so that we can actually SEE if there is a difference from the outside.

I sent an email to Dr Rhino this week to enquire on status, and they told me "corrected replacement discs have recently arrived, so we will begin shipping them out this week" and they'll send an email when they ship.

No email yet, hopefully next week.

Hello, I've just joined the site, as I googled any information on the remasters and came up with this thread, which was very helpful. I had ordered the corrected remasters from the Ideal Copy (which I use for hard to get and/or delicately packaged items that Amazon makes a mess of) and made an enquiry yesterday. Here's what Chris Bonham replied, with the details of how they can tell the re-remasters apart.

Your New Order corrected remasters are here and on hold for you. They are set to ship when the Cult Omnibus arrives, which was supposed to be this week, but it looks like it's running late, so next week at the earliest. If you want a split shipment, let us know - it may cost a little more.

You should tell the web chat rooms that you visit, that idealcopy.com HAS the corrected remasters. And they should buy them from us. If someone buys them from an online company that just doesn't know about the situation or if it's run by robots, they very well could get the uncorrected remasters, since the upc codes are the same for both versions. The packaging for the US corrected versions of the is slightly different than the original release. So, that's how we can tell. We even had a regular customer who bought a set directly from Rhino.com recently - they sent him the uncorrected versions! He returned them to Rhino and then bought them from us.<<<

You would think that Rhino would at least communicate with this site to tell what is up, so at least people can know they are buying the improved version, and improve public relations. Fans are not going to buy them if they are confused. Thou I suppose they are not very happy with the cost of replacing discs and want to be rather quiet about it. Dr Rhino is the contact for the US Rhino site. You probably want to contact Rhino UK for their plans.

The US Rhino site has text for all the releases that indicates "If you have previously received the 2008 issue of this title and would like to request a corrected replacement bonus disc, please contact Dr. Rhino at drrhino@rhino.com."

I've found them to be pretty prompt in their replies, but I'm still waiting for the replacements.

I've sent an email to Rhino UK 3 times asking how to get replacement cd's and not had a response...

Just received discs in the mail from Rhino US. They only sent the bonus discs from each album and another copy of Technique (which had no problem with it really).

A lot of the labels on the tracks have been fixed but some are not (Example Mesh + Cries and Whispers are actually labeled properly, Run 2 still says just Run 2 with no indication of it being the 12 inch version) Still plain white and has a copyright date of 2008. Still no True Dub or Beach Buggy they labeled them for what they were on the first set.

They fixed the channel swap on Ceremony, finally...

So Lowlife will still have that bad volume drop during sunrise they couldn't even be arsed to fix it

Honestly I don't even care if they fixed all the clicking at this point it was such a waste.

50 Pound and Bruno's Recycle project blows this completely away still

I sent my original complaint back in early July and went back and forth with them sending pictures and they confirmed they would send them to me when "they became available."

I sent Dr. Rhino an email I think about 2 weeks ago asking what the status was and never got a reply then they were in my mailbox today, just the 6 discs in paper sleeves.

Maybe the huge Rhino.com sticker they gave me with it will make up for everything

First post, but long time visitor of this wonderful site.

I've got a particularly vexing question related to the infamous Rhino remasters, especially as the US re-remastered re-releases (talk about stilted) are now out. Has anyone here gotten ahold of them? How's the mastering on the albums themselves? I care slightly less about the bonus discs (thanks in no small part to 50 Pound Note and Bruno's spectacular job, my greatest thanks to all involved) but I have the original CD presses and was considering upgrading to the new remasters, so long as the sound on the albums isn't TOO awful.

The Ideal Copy has a special deal on the albums (5-pack at a discount) and are throwing in a poster to boot. Are they worth springing the money for, do you think?

Just got an email reply from Rhino saying that the replacement discs went in the mail earlier this week.

Even if they're still not 100% perfect, I'm just glad to see an end to this mess.

Well - at least in the US - there's a really easy way to identify the fixed reissues - they don't have an outer slipcase. I'm halfway convinced that was a cynical ploy from the label to get rid of the old crappy ones. "Ooh, this one has a slipcase - I want that one!"

I was in Amoeba this afternoon and couldn't help myself. I bought Lowlife and Technique.

They *look* nice, however, the Lowlife album proper was printed as the bonus disc and vice-versa. Hooray for quality control! You know, if you took a whole year to fix this debacle and only 10 total CDs were involved, don't you think you could at least get the surfaces printed correctly?

Each package contains an extra booklet that wasn't in the first run which has the tracklisting and credits for each 2xCD set.

The audio mastering is compressed all to hell. They sound clear and all, but also no dynamics. They make my ears hurt.

So after all this time and all this hassle the main albums STILL sound WORSE then the original CD releases from the 1980s? That's sort of sad. The misprints and typos are simply inexcusable, even by the admittedly already low standards they've set themselves.

The new discs are here and they sound like crap. I honestly think they took the messed up audio and reworked it instead of starting from scratch as it sounds even more compressed now. The highs are too high yet the rest of it is muddy and there is no clean bass. This is the case on most of the discs. And for Rhino to send one sticker with these discs is really fucking shitty. Send no sticker or send me a coupon for 20 bucks. Do not send me something that costs 5 cents.

Rhino is getting good laughs I think. The more we whine, the more they'll re-remaster.

Considering how everyone's been bashing them on this forum for an entire year now, I can only assume this and the Tall Paul Mix of "True Faith" still remaining are simply out of spite.

So who here is going to create the Re-Remasters error thread? Rhino must really love the publicity they've been getting here. Perhaps it's a conceptual piece they're pulling on us.
