Might be bad news for those who want replacement discs...

The Rhino records arm of Warners reportedly just completed a huge wave of layoffs this week, as part of the whole record companies dying thing. So no wonder Rhino has been so quiet, a lot of them are losing their jobs.

I would expect that this will be bad news for those who want replacement discs, since the customer service already was barely existent before. This also might mean less future half assed rereleases/compilations. Will the WFTSC leftovers be released now by Warners, maybe just digital. Who knows?

As far as I'm aware, having just received the replacement re-remasters from Rhino, all they (Warner UK) fixed were all the bonus discs and the Technique main disc.

There are no official re-remasters of the first four main albums, right?

Though I'd love to hear the unofficial versions if some kind soul can point me in the right direction.

The remasters available in Australia, especially JBHiFi are the original error riddled 2008 versions. I bought them all today and compared them with the originals and the differences revealed in this thread.

I've written to Dr Rhino requesting replacements.

How annoying.

The latest:

"Dear New Order Fan,

Thank you for your email and your patience. Your replacement request is currently being processed and your replacement discs will ship out within 10 business days.

We apologize for the delay and thank you again for your patience.

Dr. Rhino"

Just sent this to Dr Rhino, in response to a message telling me that the replacement 5 bonus discs and 'Technique' will be sent to me in 5 working days:

I'm told on the New Order forum that each of the new versions of these remasters come with an extra booklet that has the tracklisting and credits for each 2xCD set - please ensure that these are also included with my replacement discs.I am also told that 'Low-life' has a stereo channel drop-out during the track 'Sunrise' fixed on the new versions. Please also ensure I receive a replacement copy of this disc, along with the 5 bonus discs and 'Technique'.

I'll let you know what reply I get.

Not to be an annoying twat, but whats wrong with Disc 1 on Technique?

The Sound Foundation wrote: The Beach sounds different to the one that we are familiar with. I've not listened to the remastered and original versions side by side (yet) but there are several differences and 'mistakes' such as at the beginning and places where the bass sequencer suddenly appears, at 3.40 mins for example. It sounds to me like demo or a rough mix that was then edited again for the final version.

Good catch. Noticed it just a couple hours ago whilst driving to work.

Haven't got them yet but was planning to until now :( Are there any telltale signs on the label / packaging that I should look for so I don't get the duds?

Checked out my local JB Hi-Fi (Gold Coast) and indeed they do have the 2008 pressings at A$21.99, but I'll skip those and find the 2009 versions somewhere (hopefully). That pisses me off, there will be unsuspecting fans out here about to get shafted, they should have been recalled and destroyed imo.

The JB versions have the new booklets, and the discs have the updated text on them, but the music is the old remasters.

fuckers.

It's bloody fraudulent

Given that they weren't available here on release Rhino are obviously unloading these on an unsuspecting Aussie market. Boo Rhino, Boo JBs!

LIke I've mentioned on other thread (Log file - error...etc..) those remasters priced at AU$22 at JB Hifi are still the 'faulty' ones. You have to look for those priced at AU$44.95 at JB Hifi & these have 'Reissue c.2009' printed on the digipak's spine. 2 weeks ago, I found both versions (AU$22 & AU$45) of the remasters at JB Hifi Sydney store in Galleries Victoria. I am quite confident those AU$45 ones are 'corrected' versions as they distinctly have diff spine notes. I didnt bother buying those 'corrected' ones though as I already have all of those 'faulty' ones. I'm still intending to write to Dr.Rhino....one fine day...when the planets align....:p

Cheers mate. Saw some in my local JBs today for the first time - weird how some come in the Collectors Edition slipcase and some don't

To my fellow Aussie NO enthusiasts, thanks for this info. I had just returned from JB in the city feeling triumphant over the purchase of three re-masters, having been assured by staff that these are the re-issues. I must admit I was somewhat dubious because the spine still said 2008. All I can say is that I am glad I haven't opened them yet and will be returning them pronto. It indeed looks like Rhino have tried to pull the wool over our eyes Down Under by trying to off-load these duds but fortunately there is vigilance amongst us!

Cheers M1, how do we know these are the re-remasters, to the two versions have different catalogue numbers?

TLU (instrumental) 2008 : 6'57 TLU (instrumental) 2009 : 6'39

Fellow Aussies, any news on 2009 versions?

The original TLU instrumental on the flipside of Murder is 6:57. The '86 remixed instrumental on the US Shellshock single is 6:39, so they've got it wrong - they pulled the wrong mix.

Hey now, they actually sent me 6 replacement discs. 32 days after I sent in an e-mail with a picture of the original CDs. So expect a month long wait, shipped in the United States.

The replacement discs look exactly the same, except for name changes, so don't get them mixed up. Ceremony 12" second version is now called "Alt" version for example. Tempation 12" is 5 seconds longer. Did they slow it down? Sounds less high pitched and better, maybe my imagination.

Do I save the "bad" discs? So sort of lame collector's item?

Temptation 12" has a bit more fade-in

Can somebody suggest a place online where I can purchase Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies that are the 2009 corrected versions? I can't find a place that specifically states that they're selling the corrected versions. I'm not looking for just replacement discs, but to buy both 2CD sets.
