G-Mex 88 my personal pick of the bunch - white with orange circles, listing New Order, ACR and the Mondays. Made a mistake of wearing this to a Mondays gig at ULU about 2 weeks later to discover all me mates had the, er, same t-shirt on! We looked like a fcuking stag do.
6.8.10 t-shirts weren't bad - black with lots of red, yellow, blue (late 87).
Red 'Young Offender' t-shirts, USA 93.
Quite like the green Ceremony t-shirts bluecat are doing at the mo'.
Worst of the lot - the red/blue chequered long-sleeve shirts supposed to represent the two footie sides of Manchester.

AL i also got the G-MEX one as this was the FIRST NEW ORDER gig i did but i wore it to OBLIVION! :D
I liked the old green design that looked like something from the Green Greedo bar in Star Wars. Around 84 or 85.
The one from Birmingham 89 with Concert written in different coloured letters. And the Run2 one that looks like a box of washing powder.

OMO? :D or was it DAZ! ![]()
I've never really bothered with the T shirts. I've got one of the 'Academy' ones that was free with the video and a promotional 'Substance' one from when I first worked in a record shop.
My brother gave me an 'Unknown Pleasures' white T shirt with black design, which ended up so covered in hot rock burns that I now use it as a 'cool' duster...
I prefer spending what little cash I have on the audio/video stuff.
As for the 'Get Ready' tour shirts, with a pot of red dye and a stencil, you could make 50 of your own for the price of one of the real shirts... ...the only aspect of New Order (and many other bands) that I think is the real rip-off.
:moon:
Bold 3...
Loved the flouro USA 89 tour tee... also the run2 bold3....
the fine time flouro pill with text wasn't bad either....

That's THE ONE...BOLD or in my case BALD! :D
In 93 I sported a nifty grey-flecked tee with:
NewOrder Republic The limited run..
on the front in the album font, in flouro orange. Good quality article- pity the album didn't live up to the tee.
:\pimp3:
I picked up the 'Summer '87' T-shirt after seeing it on Barney in the True Faith video. Very cool I thought, to be wearing your own promotional material and on a fully fledged commercial exercise which went on to win the best video (in the UK) that year. Possibly down to the T-shirt.

so Mick...is there anything special about this here orange covered version of Republic? I've got it, and as far as I can tell, the only difference is the packaging...

Well then you must have heard the story about the surfers?
Waxed pictures and does yours have that little piece of cellophane with the writing in GOLD about copyright and all that.:D Surely with the BAYWATCH connection you cannot be serious "is the packaging".The homework i did with this item was WORTH doing! Interested cos i could spill the BEANS?
Must be SERIOUS to COLLECT and as you KNOW i AM! ![]()

Well this comes from a GREAT source and an interview i also read WAY back.As you know i used to collect NEW ORDER in a COLLECTORS way and this meant I KNEW that the PROMOS etc would usually be THE SAME TRACKLISTS but that did not matter.Firstly get it before the REAL McCOY or find something with these items that is FUN.This comes into its own in the second catergory. The influence was born out of the FACT that REGRET was filmed on the BAYWATCH set.An observer either then or before this had noticed that some of the so called COOL surfers used to put the best CDs into their pockets of the SURFER SHORTS when out at sea so their mates did not nick them!Following this lead not only does the CD survive WATER but the REPUBLIC pack contains WAXED
pictures and cover so ALL of this could be taken with you.No leaving it on the beach for those LOVELY girls to slip down their ample cleavage(mind you that would have been GOOD to retrieve:D).The best bit for my was the warning about ONLY LENDING THIS and the FACT that YOU had to give it back or words to THAT effect once listened to ,in TRUE PROMO style.A total change to the NOT FOR RESALE..UNLESS DESPERATE on SUBSTANCE 87.How times ...with success HAD changed:DStill for me this story is great and in the true and best of ideas WAY,even IF this was a bit away from the truth ,like SANTA and FAIRYTALES ,they get better with age.I have read all sorts of tales about the POSTCARD
bootleg 7 inch records and the like but nothing for me is as good as this.Remember there is more to collecting than OWNING a product and this is why the collecting of FACTORY then LONDON records has always been a mainstay of my collections, but i do collect other artists. But as SINEAD once said.."NOTHING COMPARES TO YOU".
Now what do you know about ANY NEW ORDER promos.I would be interested to know.
ROCKET COLLECTOR MICK
My favorite was the Technique Statue on White that now looks more like yellow w. gnarley pit stains....my newest NewOrder T-shirt is the Procession art in Navy blue on a short sleeve grey T...i've worn it 3 days in a row and still no noticable smell or funny looks.

Bought a tv/video combi the day - dug out a few music vids to watch JD/NO Mondays / Roses / Charlies....you get the drift;)
Another cracking t-shirt was Substance - I had the Blue Cabbage one:D God knows what happened to that one an all![]()
The Republic Tour was probably the best when it comes to promotional material. A lot of t-shirts were availabke by then.
This one was bought by Nicolas when we went to see New Order in 1993:

He also bought the t-shirt I bought (after I switched for it the flame-logo cap I had bought 10 minutes before), which is the one Rocket mick prefers:

This one made all of us think Young Offender would be released as a single, and we thought the t-shirt was cool:

And, indeed, the barcode was really out of this world:
