"Low Life" LP re-issue: MISSPRESSING

It's also not cheap to manufacture and isn't getting any cheaper as time goes by, especially as we've lost quite a few of the bigger pressing plants (in the UK).

There's no excuse for the bad text layout on Low Life and the phantom track on the artwork for Brotherhood, though I didn't really expect the tracing paper to be present on Low Life, nor the die-cuts on PCL due to cost reasons. By cost reasons I mean that the label will have considered the expense too great for their expected margin rather than it really is too expensive to reproduce. As we know Factory would have produced artwork regardless of cost and their margin, Rhino clearly won't.

They could shell out all the money in the world to pay the licensing on tracks most people already have and package them together in some pointless leather corset sleeve, yet they can't be bothered to reproduce the original Factory sleeves.

Now I am getting really angry reading these last couple of posts - cos it is starting to dawn on me just how much Rhino/Warners are taking the mickey.

I mean, the Or der fiasco is beyond forgivable at this stage. It's even worse than the courier font used on the cheap CD issues that Warner have been peddling for years. This sort of negligence is beyond simply unprofessional - it's downright fucking irresponsible, laughable and pathetic.

Why don't they just repress the album again with the sleeve wording to read New Hor D'Oeuvres instead? They couldn't do much worse at being so fucking cackhanded. C***s!

Sadly, I'm not surprised either, but does this mean we'll soon be seeing 12" singles (e.g. a "Blue Monday" reissue, without the die-cut) at £15 a pop as well?

I know slightly more goes towards publishing when it comes to an LP, but it doesn't justify the price, especially when the end product is of extremely poor quality. The reissued JD LPs cost less than these, and they had (relatively) decent artwork too - printed on quality paper, for a start.

Exactly. The new sleeve screams out: "We, Warner Brothers, don't give a toss about art or about destroying national heritage - the only thing we care about is to rip you off as much as possible, so that we can line our shareholders' pockets".
