When and how did you get into New Order?

That would have been March 1983 when I heard Blue Monday and decided I should buy it. When I started getting the back catalogue, I realised that a song I had heard in 1982 that I'd liked was Temptation.

I always knew about them and liked them, but the first thing that really got me into them when I saw the Run video on telly. I reckon there was a six month period where the only song I listened to was Temptation. People refused to travel in my car and my housemates threatened to chuck me out if I didn't stop.

When I was a teenager,the movie "Pretty in Pink" came out. I really wanted to see it but couldn't because I lived too far from a movie theatre. So I settled for buying the soundtrack instead."Shellshock" was on there & I quite liked it. One day,I spotted the Low-life cassette & decided to buy it even though I didn't know any of the songs on there. This was in the summer of 1986. The first time I heard TPK, it blew me away. The whole album is amazing.

After that,I got Brotherhood,then Substance. Then I got PC&L, Movement & the 1st 2 JD albums.I prefer the 1st LP,Unknown Pleasures more than Closer. However,I lost my only copy of it when I moved out of my dorm room during my freshman year of university. I always wondered if the next year's student found that tape & listened to it.That album is a treasure.

My brother had substance on VHS and the 12" of BM, Confusion and TLU, so I knew of them a bit growing up.

I didn't properly get into them until I heard True Faith 94
