Fingery pooh's
Although I agree with yer other comments on this thread, about Barney and the others trying things that they wouldn't have within New Order, you cannot seriously put Dylan in with The Stones and The Boss
Take away the fact that he sounds like a hoover fer a minute here
Dylan has constantly changed his music over the 40 years he's been in the bees knees! all his albums have a different feel / sound to em, maybe he should have retired years ago (touring) but the man is a fucking living legend, no-one has a back catalogue like him, some of the most important songs of the last century were written by him. Innovative - can't be arsed going into too much detail, everyone who knows anything about music will tell you he changed the face of popular music, if it wasn't fer Dylan and his lyrics, all the bands today would still be singing fucking love songs
everyone knows of the Judas chants in Manchester when he went from folk to electric (although he had already diversed at the Newport festival in the US of A) he constantly changed his music at concerts - he constantly changes the music and sound to his songs....what I mean is, I've heard Like A Rolling Stone etc...done in several formats, he constantly confuses his fans, but keeps them happy at the same time! If only we could say that about New Order's set-list (other than slightly different versions of BLT and that fuknked up jazz version of TF
) I could go on and on....but I won't
Back to Mr ID's original subject
I know exactly where yer coming from Donnie Brasco
I posted a while back about Barney's lyrics being a lot better than that of his lyrics within NO - so as I said a minute ago - I agree with Fingers on his reasoning
I can reel off song after song of Electronic where the lyrics are fookin fantastic, songs that ultimately spring to mind.....Try all you want, Some distant memory, Get the message, Feel every beat, Forbidden City, Second nature, Prodigal son, Haze, Vivid, Flicker.......excellent stuff!
By sticking up fer Dylan, I am in no way taking anything from Barney - JD/NO/Electronic are my favourite bands making my kinda music, and personally I love everything they have ever released
I'd love to see another Electronic album - but even more than that I'd love to see another New Order album:D
