Righty, the set was split in two with the Bad Loo stuff first, gotta say I was anticipating a dodgy live performance following on from the radio sessions I’d heard, combined with Jarvo’s call after the Brighton gig, but thankfully I was pleasantly surprised. We were initially stood next to Arthur Baker and Chris Coghill (Burn It & Eastenders) but decided to make a dash for it to the front. Gotta say that Heaven as a venue was an inspired choice, the place was packed to the rafters, so much so that myself, Don & Ness had to fight through the crowd to get to the front, just like the good ole days. Jake seem to have slotted in nicely and seemed quite comfortable in the place we are all so used to seeing Hooky, the other lad was quite happy to take a backstage role near Steve. Most surprising was seeing Roger Lyons on keyboard through the whole performance, a welcome surprise as Roger’s a top lad. As usual it was almost impossible to catch a glimpse of Steve. Anyways, as mentioned the Bad Loo stuff was a helluva lot better than expected, I thought the band were really on the ball. I managed to capture quite a bit on the ole digital camera and watched it back this morning. Quite surreal being in front of Barney without being thrown here there and everywhere, not a mosh pit in sight. Highlights were This Is Home, Running out of Luck (which is now growing on me) Poisonous Intent & Twist Of Fate, was a bit pissed aff that they are not doing Runaway though. Second half was the side project gig, twas great seeing Tighten Up in a new faster version, such a shame that Electronic never fookin toured more! Then a new pumped up intro into Crystal had a few people thinking what the fuck is this, but gotta say it blended in nicely. Again, it was weird as fuck though, mainly for the bass in the later half of the song, me and Don automatically looked at each other as if to say “Where’s Hooky?” Strange. Out of Control was fantastic and this was the first time we saw Nobby going proper mental and starting a mosh pit all of his own, I am guessing Roger had quite a bit to do with the new pumped up sound for the performance, fucking fantastic to finally hear this live and it worked wonderfully well and to make it better Temptation was segued into it, then the whole place went fucking nuts. A proper pit ensued and we were battered from pillar to post, lovely. Transmission kept the madness going then they came back on to do an BLT minus Steve with Jake and Phil on acoustic geetars, I’d say it was staged but nevertheless I enjoyed it. Love Will Tear Us Apart closed the show in style. Really really enjoyable night and surpassed my expectations by a country mile. If anyone supplies me with the bootleg of the show (or any of the other two shows) I will supply the new Viking pin for the tour. As always it was an absolute pleasure meeting up with everyone. Let’s hope for some more dates next year.

A question...since I am a gear head..
From the videos I have seen, it looks like Phil has a keyboard set up stage right, and Roger Lyons is over there too, with that looks like a bunch of computers.
So, is Roger actually onstage with the band, then? Is he actually playing keyboards on songs? What was his equipment set up like?
Oh, and did Phil play his keyboard at all?
BTW, Roger Lyons is a great guy. I wrote him on Myspace a few years ago telling him I thought his prorgramming work was awesome, and he was kind enough to write me back a few times.

Aye, Roger is a legend, he was onstage, couldnae see what exactly he was upto but it looked like he had his own wee play area full of synths/compooters. Phil spent most of the night on the guitar but did revert to the synths on Crystal, from that point on I couldnae make much out cos the place erupted for the last few numbers.

Wasn't Alex around last night?
Roger was cool - I hadn't seen him before and thought he was a roadie as he helped setting up everything along with the other roadies. He had two black mac laptops like this one: link and another computer monitor to their left - not sure what this was attached to.
He looks a bit like my Dad.
Bernard was constantly looking over to him to turn up/down various levels during the first half of the show - I never knew he was such a perfectionist!

Just to agree it was a great night and thanks for the reviews guys as they match my thoughts. Hope a bootleg surfaces. The venue was perfect - a half empty bigger hall would not have had the same atmosphere. Particularly loved Out of Control/Temptation but BL stuff was much better than on record. Not sure yet about the acoustic BLT, not enough dancing Barney.
I am surprised that no one took pictures and uploaded them, when I go to the NYC show the next day you guys are going to have a field day with pictures and videos from the nov 21 NYC show.

There are loads of photos (from Brighton/London) but on Facebook... When I've got a bit more time, I'll upload a couple of mine, but there were cameras galore (especially) in London! :)
I'd wager that there'll be a lot from Manc too, as well as Paris (at least I'll be taking some in Paris)!
